To answer a frequent question, this card will work in your camera or other device if it accepts SDHC cards (not the same as microSDHC). Just google the model name of your device with "sdhc" to check. Make sure you get a size your device can use.

This is a review of the 32-GB card. Speeds are often different for different sizes of the same card. There are numerous speeds that matter for an SD card. I'll cover how various speeds of this card stack up for use in cameras and other devices too.

Digital cameras: photos

For digital cameras, still or video, the card speed that matters most for shooting is the *sequential write* speed, which is how fast your images can be transferred from the camera to the card. It's usually *not* the first figure cards give for speed, and Samsung doesn't give any specific figure for it for this card.

This card actually tests at from 15 to over 35 MB/s (megabytes per second) for sequential writes. (See below on where I get these numbers.)

That's a lot faster than the 10 MB/s this card's Class 10 and UHS Class 1 speed ratings require, which may be what Samsung means when they say it writes "twice as fast as conventional SD cards." It isn't fast enough to write "up to 360 photos (8 MB) per minute," as Samsung also claims, though. (That would require a 48 MB/s *write* speed, which Samsung doesn't claim for this card.)

Your camera manual, or online camera info, should say what speed you need, probably in terms of a speed class (see more on speed classes below). In theory you can figure out how fast your card needs to be for maximum shooting speed by multiplying how many shots per second your camera can take by the file size (in MB, not MP) of the photos. How to recognize a fake:
- The authentic one has the lot/serial numbers and it is made in Korea. Fake cards are "Made in Taiwan"
- authentic card there is a white edge or "border" that goes all the way around the card, the fake one has a black edge
- fake reported a disk size of 62.95 GB while the authentic card reported a size of 59.62 GB.
- Counterfeiters fraudulently overwrite the cards internal memory with a false capacity which will display the false capacity on your device. Actual memory must be checked with a test program. You can easily check if your Micro SD drive has the capacity and speed stated. "H2testw" is a simple tool that is distributed for free and offers a very simple, easy-to-use interface. The program can be used by anyone who wants to know how their product compares to others, or the amount of errors that can be detected on their device

It's a great card. It works well, it feels a little more rugged than most, is priced very well, is relatively fast, and looks really cool.
I was going to give it a 5-star review as soon as I verified it worked. Which it did.
But...
I'm comparing it side-by-side with a SanDisk Extreme. Both are 32GB, both are class 10 (suitable for video), the SanDisk claims 45MB/s and the Samsung claims 48MB/s. The problem is, when I test data throughput using BlackMagic's Disk Speed Test, the SanDisk clocks in at 40MB/s WRITE and 44MB/s READ, while the Samsung only manages 20MB/s WRITE and a similar 44MB/s READ. The SanDisk, at a few dollars more, writes twice as fast!

So, that said, the Samsung is stylish, functional, great little card at a great price, and I would have no problem recommending it... but it's not living up to its speed claim in my tests. (However, I did test it while recording at 720p/60 and 1080i/30 frame rates and it had no problems keeping up so it's still a relatively speedy flash card)

CAUTION!!! The SD card I received was 100% FAKE COUNTERFIET "Samsung" SD Card. I will be notifying Amazon and Samsung Fraud protection. There are several identifying features that show it's a fake...one of which is pictured here. The sides of a Genuine Samsung SD Card should be white in color. This card is no good.

I have a Nikon D60 and was getting tired of having to swap out my cards every hundred shots or so. With this 16GB SD card, that problem is history. I don't have to worry about carrying multiple cards with me, I get everything on one card and then transfer it all on my computer daily.

Speaking of transfers - FAST FAST FAST! I use a multicard reader on my computer and this Samsung 16GB SD card flies through transfers with ease! I used to slap one of my old cards (1gb) in, go to transfer, grab a coffee and come back to find them almost finished. Now, with 16x the size, it's done before I get my coffee! WOW!

I love the performance, the size and most of all, I love Samsung for making some seriously reliable flash drive storage options. I've been a Kingston fan for a long time, but recently (past couple of years) their longevity has taken a hit. They work great, but they die after a year or two. These Samsung products have been going strong for years and they've even made me a convert with their SSD line - they're just *that* good.

They may not be the fastest on the market (There's one or two out there that can beat them on transfer speeds) but for quality AND speed? You're not going to touch them - especially at these prices!
