Despite the added weight, this tablet feels more comfortable to hold because of the extra padding provided by the case. Here is a quick summary of my likes and dislikes:

Likes

1. Prevents accidental touching of capacitive buttons.
Due to the extra padding, it's much easier to hold the tablet in a horizontal position without touching those buttons.

2. Stand is a separate piece from the rest of the case.
3. Stand supports horizontal and vertical positions.
4. Very sturdy.
5. Easy to grip.
6. Several layers of protection.
7. Built-in screen protector.
8. Attractive design.

Dislikes

1. Weight (18 ounces without front cover, 23 ounces with front cover).
It's a little too heavy for me to hold with one hand while in use. Please note that you will be sacrificing the light weight for protection.

2. All ports are covered.
Personally, I don't like having to hold the flap open while plugging in headphones or a charging cable. However, you might prefer to have all your ports covered, especially if you are in a dusty environment.

3. Screen protector isn't perfectly aligned around the word "Samsung."
This is not a big deal, just something I noticed! The oval cut-out is too small.

Overall, I am enjoying this case a lot! It's definitely worth fives stars, if not more. It looks pretty cute in pink too. I recommend it for anyone who needs the ultimate protection.

Having purchased my 2nd tablet, I know the importance of keeping your tablet in excellent shape. However, I also realize how damaging just one fall can be on a tablet. Because of this fear, I decided to buy an Otterbox Defender Series. Admittedly, this is an extreme solution and most people will not want (or need) this type of protection. But for those of us who want to hold on to our tablets as long as possible and prevent all damage, this is perfect for you.

-Design-
This case was designed with security in mind. The installation was easy and the built in screen protector is a nice addition to the case. It has a thick cover that should prevent most types of damages to occur to your device should it be propelled by gravity to the ground. The button layouts are accurate and it is easy to access the device. The plastic cover on top of the device also doubles as a stand, which has proven useful at times. There is a cover for all the ports except the speakers. So while the device might be splash proof, it definitely isn’t waterproof. But for most environments, this should provide the most protection available.

-Quality-
The case has excellent quality when it comes to the case itself. The rubber feels nice and the plastic feels like it won’t fall apart. However, there are one or two issues that I have, all of them with the screen protector.Read more ›

I have always liked Otter. This case is the bomb. I did shift to another case with an external keyboard for everyday use, but keeo the Otter close at hand for when I am going to be out in the field for any reason. The only downside that I experienced was a bit of sensitivity loss to the touchscreen. With a cheaper stylus I had some problems. A Targus stylus actually made a difference here. the 8.4 screen is just small enough that using the onscreen keyboard is tedius for me without a styluse. Many of you reading this will say " but you're old," and in all fairness you will need to take that into account.

Need protection? Get this damn case.

Great case, I've always been impressed with OtterBox, and I got this one for less than $15. A steal in the OtterBox world. I have yet to look up how much this case would normally set me back. Anyways, this is a great case, I love that it has a screen protector built in to the hard plastic that snaps on the tablet. The snap on, snap off back or screen cover is great, with it over the screen I can throw it in my messenger bag, and hop on my bike without worrying about my screen getting scratched up.

This case fits my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 perfectly. The only thing i don't like about the case so far is the need to peel the outer rubber piece off and pop the case open to change the sdcard(and sim). The shield fits great too. I don't like the fact that the shield doesn't have a heavy duty clip on it. This ended up working to my advantage though, as i came up with a more secure way of fastening the the shield to my belt than a clip; i plucked the four rubber movement stoppers out of the shield and replaced them with four pieces of velcro.

I ha e had several OtterBox cases in the past and this is my favorite so far. The bare case does add so e heft to the tablet but as thin and light as the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is I don't think that is a bad thing. You get added grip and that is very nice. The screen protector actually feels fairly nice. It is not like the naked glass but is not the sacrifice that I have seen on other Defender series cases such as the one on my wife's iPad 2. The stand is very nice. It works well and I like the fact it doubles as a front cover when the tablet let is not in use. When in heavy use I typically put the stand (opposed to having it snapped to the back not using the stand feature) over to the side as it adds a bit too much bulk for extended use. Overall very nice case.
