First off I will say that the gold leaf is the size that they say it is. The last package of gold leaf I purchased by mail from another seller gave the same dimensions and yes the paper was the dimension given but the gold on the paper was less than half the size stated, like a 1.5" x 1.5" square, I was so angry.

Alma Gourment Gold Leaf is the size advertized, the gold leaf covers almost the entire sheet of paper so the dimensions given are accurate. What is also really nice is that although the gold is loose, I prefer what I would call transfer sheets, it doesn't fall out or fly off when you are trying to even open the booklet up. I normally hate loose gold leaf since it seems like I waste as much as I use or I have to alter my design because it goes where it wanted, not where I wanted. This gold leaf although loose is not quite as fickle or difficult to manipulate which is really nice. I have no clue if it means it is a better grade or not but it is certainly more user friendly.

This package is only 5 leaves which makes it a little pricey. Alma also offers a 25 leaf booklet at Amazon of the same quality which is more cost effective per sheet (I think $40ish for 25 sheets) but I did not have the extra cash so I purchased this packaged and I have no regrets. My cake turned out fantastically, I was able to use 100% of the gold leaf as it did not "fly away" on me which means I only used a couple of sheets instead of all 5, the sheets of gold are the size advertized (maybe 2 1/2 to 2 3/4", I don't have them right in front of me to measure) and it looked spectacular.

I would purchase this again although most likely aim for the larger book for the savings, gold doesn't go bad or out of style.

This high-quality gold leaf transformed ordinary pastries and desserts into a work of art. The leaf itself is very delicate - avoid working with the gold leaf near wind drafts from fans or a/c units. Decorating is easy and can be done by anyone - just have fun with it and experiment. And yes, the gold leaf is edible, safe and practically tasteless. I ate a 1/4 sheet to feel extra fancy :)
