This review is for the Ham It Up V1.3 version of this enclosure.

The V1.3 enclosure fits the Ham It Up V1.3 board perfectly. It doesn't come with instructions, but a few minutes playing with all the hardware and you can figure out how to correctly mount the board. If you have screws sticking out anywhere then you didn't assemble it correctly. If you are new to this type of work, before you hook this up to power be absolutely sure that the board is mounted on the standoffs and NOT flat against the case, which would short out everything. If it is against the case, then you put it together incorrectly. Take it apart and figure out what you did wrong. I've even heard of people putting the standoffs on the outside of the case thinking they were feet!

I just found this listing. The converter board fits perfectly, all the holes lined up reasonably well. The brass stand-offs that hold the circuit board were about 1mm too long so the screw on the bottom does not quite align flush with the bottom surface, but I'm using stick-on rubber feet so that's not a problem. Lost one of the tiny screws that holds the end panel on, but it's secure enough with 3 of the 4 corners secured.

Maybe i'm just a dunce, but i couldn't quite get the board to align properly, and i never could figure out what the included screws were for. But it does look nice and my board does work in there. The board is mostly straight, too. maybe a half mm off on one side, but that could be the board's fault, as i imagine this is built to higher tolerances than the PCB cutting machine's designed to do.

Oh and the passthrough / upconvert labels are backwards relative to the switch positions. weird, right?

Very nice extruded aluminum case.

Two small hits against it - the screw that goes in by the USB port ends up hitting the USB connector and stripping out the hole, the screw should be shorter there.

It would be nice if the hole for the optional noise generator connector were already punched. It wouldn't hurt the shielding of the case without the connector, and it saves a lot of work cutting a square hole.

I love this case. Now my precious up-converter isn't exposed on my desk waiting to get mashed. I would rate it 5 stars except the silk screening on mine has the pass-through and up-convert switch position labeled backwards. This is a known problem and I ordered it direct from Nooelec thinking they would send me one with proper screening, but alas I was wrong. This is a trivial thing though. The case is well built and provides anti-mashing goodness to my formerly exposed converter.

As another reviewer stated, it might be nice to have an option to buy the board pre-installed in the enclosure. This wouldn't be optimal for the (presumably small percentage of) people who are going to install the DVB-T dongle into the enclosure and solder up the appropriate connectors. But for the rest of us, it seems silly to just have the board sitting out in the open, even beyond the fact that it is more susceptible to RF interference. Still, the box is just right for the board, other than the reversed wording on the toggle switch that the company has made clear.

Provided screws were too long, with the screw right above the USB jack running into the jack and tearing it off the PCB if you drive it all the way in before noticing. One of the two end plates warped when installed due to the holes not being centered on the main chassis.

It's cheaper than the effort to build one from scratch.
