This is my second pair of Nevados Klondike WP *(waterproof) hiking boots. They are comfortable, and they fit well. I have very narrow feet and they are not wide at all on me. They fit the way a hiking boot is supposed to fit. Very well constructed, this is why I purchased them. My last pair lasted a few years and I do a lot of hiking.

I've seen the same boots at other places with a much higher price, so I'm glad I purchased here.

If you have narrow feet, these will work for you. This is not to say that they won't fit someone with "normal" sized feet, this is just to say that, with my narrow feet, my feet are not swimming in these boots, which happens for me with other brands of shoes and boots, as well as sandals.

They are very comfortable and light, great for hiking.

If you purchase them for every day, you'll also get good mileage out of them.

The soles are paper thin, while walking on gravel you can feel every single stone. A hiking boot should cushion your feet from rocks and such. They do seem to be fairly waterproof though, so I am using them in the yard. I wanted hiking boots and I still need to find and buy some real hiking boots.

My feet are kinda wide and I usually wear a 10 so I ordered a 10. Apparently they are sized a bit smaller than my usual 10's so I really needed a 10.5.

Other than these issues the boots are just ok.

I tend to be very hard on outdoors equipment and sadly, these didn't make it through a full season. My first impression was great based on the quality appearance and comfort. I rarely find a shoe that doesn't require better arch support for my high arches but these were amazing.

They held up to a trek over Snowdon in Wales. The waterproofing worked fine and the tread was amazing. Shortly after this, however with a few subsequent shorter hikes on basic forest trails in them, the textile portions of the upper began separating from the leather. Both boots did this. It wasn't long before I noticed the soles were losing traction and had actually worn through on some of the knobs. I'm guessing I had about a 75-80 mile service life on my pair.

I still wear them for odd jobs around the house but they're no longer trail worthy. If you're a casual visitor to the outdoors and just need a capable pair of boots to get you through a few short hikes in a season, these are worth the money. If you're looking into more serious trekking, I would spend some time at your local outdoor shop to find the right boot for you.

Because Northside Ridgecrest is no longer made I went searching everywhere for a comfortable, waterproof, budget pair of hikers. Then here came these Nevados. At $33, they're the perfect fit, comfy and roomy even with my plantar faciitis inserts. They seem very sturdy and might even be better than my old pair of Ridgecrests.

I purchased these boots in February of 2013. After a year of wearing them, I'm giving my thoughts.

First, these are good boots for the price. Hiking boots are, in my opinion, incredibly over-priced, so finding ones that were reasonably affordable was a nice little surprise. These pretty much do what they are supposed to do; they support your ankles very well, are waterproof up to the tongue, and give great traction even on the most slippery of surfaces. They are also very rugged and manly looking (seriously, these boots are super-sexy looking), and the leather and rubber both look awesome and feel almost real ( I think they may actually be real too). In short, these are very attractive and functional (if basic) hiking boots.

There are, however, a couple of bad things about them. First and most important: the soles are paper thin and do nothing to protect your feet from rough terrain. I hiked up Old Rag Mountain last summer and by the end my feet felt like they'd been pounded for five hours by a meat tenderizer. You will feel every little pebble and root on the trail, and over the course of a 9-mile hike, that kind of pounding takes its toll. Second, the fit isn't quite right. I know that every shoe on Amazon has a review that says something to this effect, but I have worn size 10 for every shoe in my entire adult life and yet these size 10s didn't quite fit right. There was way too much wiggle room for my foot (especially in the heel), even with them laced as tight as they would go. However, this problem is solved if you wear a nice thick pair of boot socks (which you should probably do anyway). With the thicker socks, they fit perfectly and gave me no blisters.

The other problem I noticed is that the rear ankle supports are a bit too rigid.

Title says it all. My initial review was two stars out of five. I have already worn through a section of the tread on the left boot, at less than two months of daily wear.

The fit well and are very comfortable, but the soles are the "soul" and backbone of a boot and these have failed.

Below is my original review, written after three weeks:

My daily commute includes a bit of walking, about two miles a day. A pair of light weight hiking boots, like these, usually wear out in six to nine months.

The tread seems to be wearing out quicker than I expected.
