I'm experienced at installing ceiling fans, having done it in several rooms in two different houses I've lived in, and I installed this one as a replacement for a slightly smaller one the motor of which no longer ran as silently as it once did. I installed it in a room that's over 500 square feet, which is larger than the recommended room size for this fan (for rooms up to 360 sq. ft., it says on the box), but it does a great job cooling the space despite the larger room size.

I think any decent ceiling fan this size is going to do the same type of job moving air around regardless of what you pay for the fan. What makes this fan stand out is the quality of the materials and the aesthetics. It's an object of beauty and a piece of fine furniture that improves the overall appearance and ambiance of the room in which we have it.

The motor is quiet, but in my experience with less expensive ceiling fans, it can take several years before their motors no longer run more or less silently. The motor for this model comes with a lifetime warranty and I'm guessing that if an owner were to complain after a few years that the motor no longer runs silently, that might not be covered. But the warranty is such that should the motor ever fail through no fault of the owner of the fan, Westinghouse will repair or replace the motor.

This is a large, gorgeous, high-quality fan with some nice features.

Pros:
-Gorgeous look, kind of like an oldschool oil lamp.
-Good power, produces a good amount of circulation.
-Reversible blades allow for some customization.
-Sufficient lighting,

Cons:
-Very heavy! Luckily modern building standards in most areas require that fan mounting points support up to 50 pounds, I believe this fan says the mount should hold just over 30 for safety (you have to account for the weight of the fan, plus if there's an imbalance that causes it to swing). The point is, if you're not a carpenter yourself, get someone who knows what they're doing to install this beast. I can easily see it ripping out an improperly installed mount point.
-Incandescent (not energy efficient) bulbs. The three included bulbs total to 120 watts, plus 55 for the fan, so that's 175 watts total. Replacing the lights with halogen, you could easily kick that down to around 30 for the bulbs and 85 total- making for around 50% less peak usage.

So aside from needing some energy-efficient bulbs, this is a gorgeous fan that really needs to be the centerpiece of a room. If you needed a good-looking fan for your lodge or cabin, look no further.

It's an absolutely beautiful product. I did not rate it 5 stars b/c the 3 40 watt bulbs provided lends dim lighting, even in the relatively small 11x13 room where it is installed. I'm hoping to find 100 watt candlebra bulb replacements to enhance the lighting. Otherwise, the piece is stunning.

I ended up installing this in my living room rather than outside as I had originally intended. My problem with many (not all) indoor fans is that they look a little tacky and cheap. Not this one, it is priced higher than your average Home Depot fan but the money went into the materials and design. It is also fairly powerful. I think that this is an excellent outdoor option and perhaps a little overkill for inside but no regrets. It looks and works great.

This large ceiling fan designed for outdoor use is ideal for a covered patio or what we in the northeast call a Florida Room - a screened-in, three-season living/party area. However it is perfectly usable in a larger traditional interior setting. It is higher quality and more attractive than most, with a retro look, especially the light with its antique lantern appearance.

I have installed it in just such a screen room that is 16x20 and has a proper electrical box securely attached to a 2x6, replacing a blah light fixture. I was able to assemble the fan and light and connect the wiring myself, getting help only to hold the fixture for the final connections.

There are ceiling fans (cheap) and then there are quality ceiling fans like this. Here the appearance and materials are definitely high end - time will tell about performance but I have high expectations.

Looks expensive. Bought the reduced price one from the warehouse. All of the products I have bought from them were certainly good enough packaging for me. Included instructions, but I had an electrician do it. He put it up pretty fast. we have only had it a short time and it is winter, so no idea about long term, but I am happy so far.
