Aug 2012 - First version of fan: I bought a Comfort Zone CZ6C in August 2012. It had a pretty beefy clamp and a decent, though not earth shattering output. That older fan was fine to stir the air in a bedroom at night after a hot day, or to circulate air in a bathroom. Construction of this older model was pretty beefy. Compared to the newer (2013) version, the housing (not fan blade diameter), it was 10 - 15% larger and the clamp was very substantial - reminded me of a lobster claw!

Early July 2013: The new version of the fan with the exact same brand name and model number...is wimpy. On High it has a slightly noticeable output at 3 to 3.5 feet. Yah, it's there....kinda. Beyond that - meh. I wouldn't want to rely on this for any kind of heat respite on a hot day.

The only good things I can say about the new fan:

1. You can turn the fan at a 90 degree angle from where it's clamped. The old fan could not do this exactly - could approximate it. However the old fan had another joint which gave it more flexibility in other ways.

2. This new July 2013 fan is physically smaller and able to fit into smaller places where an extra 1 to 1.5 inches might be a dealbreaker for install or positioning.

3. As crazy at it sounds I can think of some situations where I might want a more "wimpy" fan. For instance, if I go to sleep on a hot evening I don't want there to be a chill from the fan after the ambient temperature has cooled down 4 hours later. This fan's output is just enough to generate some * subtle * air circulation in say an 8 X 10 room without being too noisy.

I needed a fan for my exercise bicycle and read many reviews of six inch clip on fans...until my eyes glazed over. Good grief there were a lot of contradictory opinions. Short story, pass on this fan. The other fan I bought (I'm returning this one) was the Air King 9145 6-Inch 2-Speed Clip-On Fan which I got for $10 slightly used (open box) from Amazon Warehouse Deals. This fan vibrates like crazy, has a really cheap speed selector switch that feels like it's going to break at any minute, and only blows air at 1.5 to 2 feet on high. The Air King has a metal grill and moves air to about 3 feet or so on high, and is much quieter, less vibration.

Sorry, can't recommend this one, see if you can get a deal on the Air King or another model. These $12 Made in China fans are really not built with quality in mind, to be polite.

This fan has a 5½" diameter blade diameter. The output on "HI" setting is about half as strong as a similar (exact size) fan (made by Shell Electric Company). I wish I could find where to buy a new one like my older fan. Is it me or are 'they' making things cheaper and weaker every year? Less copper coils = less electromagnetic force = less strength = less moving air = disappointment

A nice little personal fan for my desk that clips onto the side... taking very little real estate.
It only has two speeds - fast and slow. Quiet.. metal cage on front and plastic on back. I would have ordered black if they had it because white gets dirty quickly.

Purchased this fan to attach to the top bunk of my childs bed and it worked fine for a few weeks and it just stop working. Not sure why, I guess the motor burned out. I removed it from the bed and the front piece came off. Not sure if this was a good product to attach to a bed!

Nice little fan. Has a good sized clamp with little rubbery knobs which makes it easy to clip in place and tilt & swivel joints to point where you most appreciate the ventilation. Quiet enough for the office and puts out a really nice breeze on low. I use mine at the office. I run it for most of 8-hours, 5-days a week. I bought this to replace a tired 2-year old fan, just like this one.
