UPDATE 2-21-15 ... (went from 5 stars to 4) Though this bipod is still Awesome for the money I made a change and went with the UTG Super Duty Tactical QD with external springs.

I did not want this Super Duty bipod to start as I like the simple action of this Bipod so went decided against it before ... but the legs are not as solid at all ... don't get me wrong I thought this were pretty solid and had little to no play but I am not sure if they loosened up after time but when in use on the bench it rocked forward and back way to much for me and not a very stable bipod come to find out.

So I started shopping for a quality bipod like a Harris etc. ... but started looking at the UTG Super Duty Tactical QC bipod and thought ... Hmmm, this is really close to a Harris and much less and it has the QD picatinny mount already (with Harris I would have to buy an extra attachment to get the Pic QD) ... MUCH BETTER .... the legs on this new Super Duty Tactical are SOOOO much more solid ... and when I say Solid I mean SOLID!!! No play at all ... And really I like the more tactical look with the external springs come to find out anyway. Plus this Super Duty Tactical bipod has the same type of the height but when legs are retracted it is about 1" shorter, which I like when I need less bipod leg ... BUT when legs are fulled extended you also get even more length then this New Gen high profile one here. The legs are notched so that is better as well, along with it is easier to extend the legs with no twisting needed etc.

Overall this New Gen High Profile bipod here is Great ... BUT the UTG Supper Duty Tactical one is WAAAY better ....Read more ›

Great bipod for the money. This was my first bipod, so I'm not sure how it compares to other offerings, but it has met my expectations. Took it out to the range last weekend and it was rock solid. The quick detach lever is pretty sweet. It's nice being able to add or remove it quickly.

I have this on my S&W M&P 15 and it works great with the 30 and 40 round mags. I love that it folds up easily and quickly for storage. The quick release is great when I'm shooting standing up and want to take it off to reduce weight, not that it weighs alot. Very glad I went with this and not one of the more expensive brands, this thing looks like it will last a long time.

No bulky springs since inserted into legs. Legs pop out like advertised and lock in other various positions tight. Great height allowing use of larger and longer Mags without ground interference. Compact as it folds forward when not in use.

Excellent Bipod! Works great on my AR-15 with quad rail. It's long enough to clear a 30rd magazine when the gun is resting on a flat source. I bought this bipod for my AR mainly because of the quick release. It's very fast and easy to attach or take off. Very convenient for shooting prone and then taking it off to remove the extra weight for shooting standing up. The quick release is definitely the selling point for me.

I dropped it down to 3 stars instead of 5 stars because everything was just right with no problems until I went to the range. After firing about ten rounds the quick release lever began loosening. If you shoot rapid fire it gets loose fast, so I gave it 3 stars instead of five. It works great if you keep a very close watch on the quick release lever or wire it closed. I will personally not buy anymore Rifle accessories that have a "Quick Release Lever" on it because I have bought other accessories with a "Quick Release" function on it and they all cannot stand the recoil of my WASR 10/63 (AK47 Variant).

I was quite disappointed at first when I couldn't get it to swivel like it shows in the pictures. What you need to do is loosen the 4mm hex bolt on the bottom. There is a set screw on the side that appears to engage that 4mm bolt but I could not get it to loosen, even after heating - resulting in a bent allen wrench. So when loosening the 4mm bolt you can feel it scraping against that set screw. I had to loosen the 4mm bolt to where it panned nicely then turn the bolt back and forth to smooth the action. The end result is it pans nicely +/- about 10 degrees.

It's ridiculous that there are no instructions for getting it to pan like is shown in the marketing, and the set screw that locks the panning was apparently thread locked in place a little too aggressively. The size of that set screw is 2mm, the included allen wrench does not fit it.
