This kit was PERFECT. The hard drive on my mid-2007 IMac was shot and needed replacing. Using this kit and the instructions I found on ifixit.com I was able to put in a brand new HD in under two hours. Kit had everything I needed, and worked like a charm. ONE WORD OF NOTE: If you are replacing parts in an iMac, be very careful when taking the faceplate off of the Mac, I accidentally severed the microphone wire. We don't use the mic a lot and it's an easy piece to fix, but just be careful when you are taking the face off.

Be careful to open.

It was okay. Only two problems are suction cups are bad. One is working fine, but other can't hold. Nylon pry tools are okay, I wish it was narrow so I can get inside the screen to open easier. It was little thick. Find other one where thinner like it can open iPhone.

Lesson learned about taking the screen off, you need to slow down and not in hurry. Look at video instruction how to open using OWC Pick for screen separation. I was bending pick and cracked the screen. It was my fault. You need to go around with circle, but not BEND.

Lastly, after replaced your SSD and RAM, check it first before glue the screen. I was glued the screen, but the screen was not on because connect cable is not fitted perfect. I had to reopen again and at that time I cracked the screen. It was my first experience. Now I know how to do next. The LCD is working, but only small cracked just like iPhone.

Just What I Needed to Upgrade a 2008 iMac's Hard Drive

I replaced the hard drive in a 2008 vintage iMac and used the tools in this kit to do it. I've worked on PCs for many years and have upgraded a MacMini before. I'd never tackled an iMac before this. I followed the procedure on the Crucial SSD web page. The suction cups worked fine. All of the screws were Torx except one and the screwdrivers worked fine. The other plastic tools helped as well. Apple didn't make this an easy swap. In the end, it came apart OK, the hard drive swap was easy, and it went back together just as it should. The Time Machine backup took an hour or two to install everything on the SSD. A few software tweeks were needed but after it was all done, the iMac was fully functional with an SSD.

Everything I needed to upgrade the HDD in my iMac(other than a HDD!)

I got this kit to help me upgrade the HDD in my iMac. I mainly got this for the wedge tools. I had everything I needed to get into the system and close it back up.

I did use the suction cups and they seemed to hold well, but I did moisten the cups with a damp paper towel before locking them in place. The hold seemed strong enough to pull the display off of the frame after I ran the pick through the adhesive. Like most other suction cups, the strength is best when the cup is facing toward the ground. I am not sure I would want to use the cups to hold the display at any other angle.

I had enough adhesive strips to button the system back up and hold it snug. I even had enough left over to do this again if I needed to.

This actually works. I was hesitant, I didn't want to do it myself. Look up online how to do it and follow the instructions well. There are a lot of cords behind the screen. To it carefully, and this kit has just the right parts. I replaced my 500GB HD with a 4TB hard drive. Such a huge difference in my computing.

Very bad suction cups!

I installed a new 3TB hard drive using this kit. The T8 and T6 used in the installation worked great and fit the screws perfectly and kept the screws from falling out as I removed the screw. BUT the suction cups are TERRIBLE! One of them popped off and I almost dropped the glass cover. I definitely don't trust the suction cups.

Although repairing the iMac seemed daunting at first, with this kit it makes it incredibly easy. One tool that is missing from this kit and should be included is a large paper clip. You will need this to actually lift the LCD out. But other than that, this kit made the whole task a 10 minute job. Would recommend if your planing to take one apart.
