I was a bit surprised when I opened the package. I expected the placemats to be more vibrant but they're actually a bit washed out; in person they don't look as vivid as the picture. But, that's not really a problem. The second thing I noticed was that they are really thin, about the same thickness as a standard business card. The third thing I noticed is that the back is smooth. That's OK but they will slide around a bit on a smooth surface, you know, like a table. Oddly, the mats are also translucent. You can see through them, especially the yellow and white areas.

They are a nice size and non-absorbent which makes them perfect for craft projects. Washable and finger paints were easy to clean as well as some spilled white glue. The packaging says they can be put in the dishwasher but, at almost 18" by almost 12", they don't fit very well and I think they may take flight inside your dishwasher when hit with the high water pressure.

Overall these are OK. If your children are big Minion fans they'll enjoy them and they do come in handy for meals and crafts. I suspect they'll last a long time or at least as long as it takes for the next animated character to take its place.

Ordered this for our 2 year old. We were disappointed despite seeing high reviews. It stuck to our table and the backing started peeling off (see pictures). Now the table is ruined - there is black ink stuck to our table and it can't be removed. I highly recommend you use care when putting this on your table!

Place mats that are fun, kid friendly. That means the younger kids will try to keep their food and dishes on their own mat. They wash easily with a damp cloth. These are dishwasher safe, but likely to blow all over the dishwasher because they are very thin and light weight. Wiping is better.
They are thin enough you can see through them, translucent (you can even read a newspaper through the yellow), and whatever color is below them changes the look somewhat. But kids don’t mind that. I folded a corner and found it is easy to bend, which cracks the surface colors but did not break off. Question is, just how many kid uses can you get until they no longer lay flat?

We keep a laptop on our dining table and I found these placemats also work well as a large mouse pad.
Size is just shy of 1’ x 1.5’ and seem to be about the thickness of most greeting card papers. Made in Taiwan. I’m sure they would work well as a mat for clay play, markers, etc. Disney’s Minions design is so busy, if a mat gets some marker on it that will not clean off, it will hardly be noticeable. Better that, than on a table cloth, wood top, or other valuable surface.

Beside the fact that it says "Greatings" instead of "Greetings", there is no backing, so it slides really easily and the picture is scratching. Good picture and cheap, just a little disappointed in quality.

These are REALLY thin. Unfortunately, I think that they are not going to last that long because they are so thin. They also have no grip, so they will slide on the table. They are big enough that you can use them for a paper sized art project and are easily wiped off with a baby wipe. So far, crayons, markers, and glue have all slipped right off without any hard scrubbing. With my daughter, she can use them while eating, but my son moves his dishes around too much and the place mat goes flying with everything else. I tried to show how thin it is in the picture attached.

These were pretty much what I expected, which is a good thing. They are perfect for my two grandsons, 4 and 7, who use little folding tv tables to put their snacks on or do their work. They are made of BPA free plastic. The illustration is cute and well done, and they love minions, and so were really happy when I gave these to them. They really do wipe clean easily, and although you can put them in the dishwasher, I have not tried this. We have tried using a mouse when we placed a computer on the table and it worked well, which is convenient.

OK... let's get the disclaimer out of the way first... I *LOVE* Minions. I can't tell you how many minion items I have around the house that I've either bought or that friends have sent me. I also don't have young kids, so these will never really get used as placemats.

In fact, I don't view these as placemats... more like fine art to me. :)

Seriously, these are thin plastic that could easily slide around on tables. It will help with localized messes with children missing the plate or leaving water rings, but they're not heavy duty. They'd also be good for small craft projects, and they are easy to clean up.

Having said all that... I still love them. In all likelihood, I'll probably have a couple on my wall down in the mancave, or use them on my minion shelf where a number of my minion items are. I still smile when I look at the mats and see all the various expressions and looks. :)

If you want heavy placemats for daily usage with young kids, you could probably do better. If you're obsessed with minions (that's me!), then you'll want a set regardless.
