Great pot for espresso or regular coffee. It make a delicious pot of coffee and I have been through tons of coffee makers. This is made quickly and tastes like a Barista made it for you. If you are a coffee lover, try this pot and use regular coffee in there, you will be AMAZED. Easy to wash and clean up too!

I purchased one of these from Ross a few years ago. When I first bought it, I used it every day to make a cup of espresso. While it isn't anything like a cup you would get from a barista that uses a regular espresso machine, it gets the job done. The only problem is out of every five cups I make, only about one turns out how I want it. It's hard to get a consistent cup, but it helps if you make sure to do a few things.

Finely grind your coffee beans, or if you don't grind your own beans, just be sure to purchase something with an "espresso roast." I personally prefer illy coffee, which can be purchased on Amazon or Safeway. Use cold water, and don't fill over the gold spout on the base of the unit. When you pack coffee, fill the cup entirely but don't pack it down, make sure it remains loose. Before you screw the top unit on, clean the sides of the bottom unit so that no excess coffee grounds are around the corners. If you leave excess coffee grounds, it will likely leak when you are pouring it. Use the lowest possible heat, it will take longer, but you will get a better cup in the end. Also, be sure to keep an eye on it when brewing! If you leave it sitting longer than needed, you will end up with a watered down cup of espresso. Be sure to listen to the water coming out of the top. Once that stops, immediately remove from the heat. Once you're done, to clean, I rinse it out with water, not soap. Apparently, using soap alters the taste of the coffee. I personally can't taste the difference, but some other people with super human coffee senses claim to be able to.

This was an inexpensive way to enjoy a nice cup of coffee while I was a struggling college student. After using for a year, I replaced this with a Nespresso machine, mostly for the convenience of not having to clean up and to save time. I still use it occasionally, but only if i'm making a latte. For a cup of espresso, I would recommend going with something else.

Sometimes the coffee leaks out of the base when you try to pour it out, but it's a pretty good product.

Great coffeemaker, except it leaks from the center portion if not real tight.
