My favorite CD so far of 2014. This is great rock and roll music, the kind that is made often enough these days. I hear some Chesterfield Kings influence on this CD courtesy of bassist extraordinaire Andy Babiuk. Clem Burke's drumming has never sounded better, Wally Palmar's vocals are terrific, and with Elliot Easton on guitar, there isn't much more to say. The man can play guitar. The Empty Hearts have a vintage, almost garage sound but somehow are able to sound fresh and new at the same time. If you like fun, energetic rock music, this release os for you.

I'm a Big fan of the Cars and The Romantics, which led me to this CD. I was expecting something good but got something great!
Each song on this CD Is something special, from the driving beat of 90 Miles An Hour, to the Bluesy swagger of Jealousy. This Collection of songs reminds you of songs from an another era, but with a freshness that makes it all feel brand new.
(I See) No Way Out and I Don't Want your Love are absolutely hook filled songs that stick with you like glue, but in a very good way! I just can't get these tunes outta my head and have to spin the CD again to get my fix!
Palmar is vocally at top form and never sounded better. With Easton on guitar (Fantastic Licks) Burke on drums, Babiuk on Bass and Palmar's harmonica adding some juicy bluesy goodness to the mix, you'd never think that these guys had any tricks left up their sleeves. Apparently they have plenty, which makes for some yummy super sonic music! Infectious rock and roll lives!
GET THIS CD! You won't be disappointed! I'm smiling from Ear to Ear!

Well, this album has taken over my ears. It's full of raw, raucous energy from beginning to end, and the melodies laid down here are fantastic. Pure, rocking power pop by a group of guys who know what they're doing. Seriously, teaming up some of the best talent from the Romantics, Blondie, the Cars and the Chesterfield Kings is a recipe for success every time. While the rocking lead-off track "Ninety Miles and Hour Down a Dead End Street" is a big, anthemic rocker, it's some of the more subtle tunes that are making me take notice. "(I See) No Way Out" is just impossibly catchy, and sounds like what might have happened if the Romantics and the Knack had ever collaborated on a song. And the smoky "Fill an Empty Heart" sounds straight out of the 1960s. Also, having had this record for two weeks now, I have found that the song that sticks in my head is whichever song I heard last. I'm not exaggerating. What I love is that this doesn't sound like one of those forced collaborations that lacks chemistry or energy. It's obvious these guys *click* musically. Wally Palmar and Clem Burke played together for years, so I knew there would be chemistry there, but wait until you hear Elliot Easton shred. Killer. I'm delighted this album came into my life (and I can't wait for new Romantics tunes ...). Do yourself a favor and buy this. Like, NOW.

First of all thanks to Little Steven's Underground Garage for playing these songs from The Empty Hearts, for without them, we'd never hear this excellent rock music. The Empty Hearts consist of Andy Babiak bass and vocals of The Chesterfield Kings, Clem Burke drums, vocals of Blondie and many other bands, Wally Palmer lead vocals, rhythm guitar and harmonica of The Romantics and Elliot Easton lead guitar and vocals of The Cars, 1 excellent solo album in 1985.

Things start of on the right foot with the power driven "90 Miles An Hour Down A Dead End Street", the mournful and majestic "Fill An Empty Heart", Elliot puts in a nice riff on this one,the late great Ian McLagan of The Small Faces accents the piece with his organ playing. The anthem rocker "Soul Deep", Easton lets it rip on "Loud And Clear", a fine rocker. The stomper "Perfect World", the shindig of "Drop Me Off At Home", Wally Palmer's vocals are tops here, nice guitar also by Elliot. The country feel of "I Found You Again", and the 60's feel with 2014 technology on "Jealousy", Burke's pounding drums keep this one going. The psychedelic sounding with kind of a Yardbirds feel on "Meet Me 'Round the Corner, excellent tune. Hopefully they'll record again, they seemed to have a fun time on this one. I recommend this to anyone interested in 60's rock and fans of the bands mentioned above. Also this album was produced by Ed Stasium, nice to see his name on the album sleeves again.

First off, there's the pedigree. Wally Palmar of the Romantics on lead vocals, rhythm guitar, and harmonica; Elliot Easton of the Cars on lead guitar and vocals; Andy Babiuk of the Chesterfield Kings on bass and vocals; and Clem Burke of Blondie on drums and vocals. Then for bonus cool points, they were given their name by Steven Van Zandt. The freshly minted The Empty Hearts were birthed by the 60's British Invasion and filtered through 80's power pop cool and then fed through a garage band. The band themselves are wearing their influences on their sleeve, or at least their t-shirt...dig The Who shirt on the CD cover. Make no mistake, this is the real deal.

"The Empty Hearts" is a first rate power popper's dream. The garagey "90 Miles An Hour Down a Dead End Street" careens into a ripping harmonica solo courtesy of Palmar and the band chiming in on chipper 'dit dit dit' background vocals for an ace hook. "No Way Out" cops from The Kinks and The Who. Dig the fuzzed out guitar in "Perfect World." Elements of The Beatles, maybe a touch of The Stones, and certainly a tiny touch of the elements of everyone's band kick in here and there through The Empty Hearts, and it feels completely natural. That could come from the album's immediacy, the whole thing was hammered out in five days, frequently the whole band playing live and catching the first take. Credit producer Ed Stasium for helping capture lightning in a bottle, he used to do the same for the Ramones.

One other thing; no-one here is trying to re-invent the wheel. The band has already stated in interviews that they just wanted to bring back the fun of listening to classic songs and being in a band that enjoyed doing what they do best. When the final "Uh Huh!
