RECALL ALERT!!! - READ FOR THE PROBLEM AND THE FIX!!!

So I purchased 3 of these via Amazon 2 weeks ago. Using a USB AMP tester like the one listed below. No matter what high load device I put behind it, their High Speed USB Charger would only put out 1 amp. This includes my iPAD3 and iPHONE6. I also did some speed testing without the tester for 10 minutes with the TOPGREENER, and then 10 minutes with my apple 2amp adapters. The Apple 2 amp adapter would charge 1.5 times faster then the Top Greener.

Somewhere I found a post from Top Greener Customer Service reps to call them at 1.714.569.9988 (8-5:30 PST) or email them at support@topgreener.com if you had problems or questions.

So I called and spoke with Jenny. She was awesome and informed me that there was a bad batch and would test and send me out 3 new ones.

They arrived along with a email detailing me that the new ones were tested on different devices getting results higher then 1.0, namely 1.2A, 1.4A,1.7A, 2.0A, 2.35A or 2.40A which I was able to verify with my own USB tester.

SO THERE IS INDEED A BAD BATCH OF THESE OUT THERE! YOU JUST NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU GET A GOOD ONE! :)

The BAD batch has 1U21503 and 2U21501 on the outlet.
The GOOD batch has 1U21507 on the outlet.

In closing, the hassle is why I would give 3 stars, but the great customer service and pre-paid return label increases it up to 4 stars.

Additionally, the reason I bought these was because my iPhone 5S's were causing random lock ups with the Leviton's T5632 model that you can read about all over the internet. So do not buy any of the Leviton model's, including the T5630 ones.Read more ›

This outlet was really easy to install. It took me under 10 minutes to do each of them. The build quality is solid and fit perfectly into each location. I have a desk lamp, laptop, iPad and Galaxy Note 4 all plugged in at the same time. The best features are that I no longer need power strips nor do I need to remember where I placed the charger!

I initially bought two of these units to install under my counter where I charge my devices.

In spite of what done other reviewers have said:

1. You definitely can fit two of these in a double gang box. It's tight, but I'd you don't have tons of extra wires and slack kicking around in the box, it will work fine.
2. Charging two iPads at the same time from a single plate works FINE. No issues. That's what I was most worried about. If you're wondering whether a single outlet can charge two iPads at the same time, the answer is YES. No incompatibility messages, and the charge time is normal. No issues.

For other reviewers who say the charging output is sub standard, I suggest you check your wiring. Maybe you have a bad connection.

Five stars... especially considering it comes complete with both decora and standard wall plates and all the mounting hardware you'll need. If you're retro fitting as I was, then you won't need any of that, but it's still cool that it's included.

Works exactly as you would expect. This USB outlet charges all of my apple devices, including the iPhone 6 Plus. I have yet to find a USB device/electronic that it won't charge; we just got new fitbits for Xmas and it works for those too. The install is just like any other wall outlet, except there are no screw terminals; it only has 'quick connects'. Most people familiar with 'quick connects' vs screw terminals would most likely find this irritating (don't worry if you don't know what this is, turn the power off, follow the instructions and you should realistically have this outlet installed in 15-30 minutes). However, I must say, it's very nice that the quick connects on this outlet will accept 12 or 14 gauge wire. The connections seem to be strong and reliable too as I didn't/don't have any issues with them. I have gotten several compliments on how convenient this product is and how 'crisp' it looks. Now I want one for every room in my house.

I have zero experience doing electric work, but It was 20 minutes from opening the package to completed install, and my house didn't even burn down a little bit!. As other reviews will mention, it will take up more of a standard size electrical box than what you're likely replacing, but it will fit. My suggestion to save space if it doesn't fit on the first try would be to shorten the wires in the box a bit. Just remember to only cut off the absolute minimum you need to, because cutting off too much will guarantee a headache if you ever want to replace that outlet in the future. After install, it works perfectly. If you're worried about the 4 amp rating on these causing damage to your phone/tablet/etc... don't. The device self-regulates, and just takes the amount it needs. The high amps just guarantees that it has every bit of juice that it can use. I got one to replace the outlet by my bed, and also one for the living room by the couch. It really reduced the cord clutter more than I would have expected. I'm trying to resist the temptation to replace a few more outlets in my house. I will likely fail. Being able to plug 2 usb devices and two regular plugs into one spot is really like having a whole extra outlet. This was especially a big deal next to my bed.

That being said, I was looking for a permanent solution for a home I own. If you're looking for the same functionality for about the same cost, you can get 2 outlet/2 USB plug in gizmos pretty much anywhere now and get the same functionality. Though no idea what amps you get with that. But the no install plus the ability to move it to different outlets might make it a better option for some people.
