More expensive than similar heaters, but the infrared heat seems much gentler, doesn't dry out the air as much, and warms quickly. It looks nice enough, has a reliable thermostat and easy to use remote. The fan does make some noise, but it is pretty quite, not enough to be a bother and is low enough not to interrupt normal conversation or tv watching. Very efficient, I have several of these around the house to supplement the propane furnace which can be kept at a lower setting with one of these in the room. One is plenty to keep a basement theater/tv room, about 20x50, warm and comfortable. Have noticed no discernible increase in electric bill running 3 of these on a regular basis.

It is a gentle even heat, and doesn't constantly cycle on and off, so it isn't distracting to have it running.

I have a large room over a two car garage and it's always a little colder. I wanted a heater to help supplement the furnace and I took a chance with this one. My brother had a similar heater made by Twin Star and he really liked what his was doing for his situation. Come to find out, this unit that that carries the "Duraflame" name is also made by Twin Star. It arrived in the manufacturers box and I was a little worried about this when I saw it sitting on my doorstep. I was hoping that Amazon would of put another protective box around it. When I picked it up, I didn't hear anything rattling around so that was a good sign. Upon opening it, I noticed how well packaged it was. It has protective "wedges" to help the corners of the box stay strong and to keep things from shifting around inside. The box itself is pretty thick too so I think it has adequate protection from the wrath of shipping.

The unit itself is definitely very "pretty" to look at. The color of the wood and the finish on it are very nice. It doesn't look cheap or fake. It actually does look like a nice piece of furniture in the room. My wife, who is very picky about things like that, even commented on how nice it looks. There is no construction for the unit needed. All you need to do is pull it out of the box, plug it in, and you are ready to go. It does come with a remote and surprisingly the batteries that it comes with are Duracells! The instructions are simplistic enough and easy to understand. It has a quick start section to get you up and running in no time. I had to calibrate the thermostat settings on mine because it was displaying a temperature reading that was a few degrees off from what all of my other digital meters were staying.Read more ›

Cold basement that is very hard to heat (partially exposed basement). This unit is very attractive, safe (the top stays nice and cool) and throws out a lot of heat. Not competely sure it will heat the 800 sq. ft. space as much as I would prefer but it is not for lack of effort. Past heaters have "pooped out" by this time...this one is perfoming well. Sound is nicely low...doesn't get in the way of the TV sound at all.

Nice Unit! Smaller than the one I bought a few years ago but just as powerful!. Heats my Double wide mobile Home 1000 sq ft except for the coldest days. Cut my propane use considerably. Cheaper to run than most space heaters!! Just set the temp you want and forget about it. I bought this for my son's mobile home. My other one still works perfectly after two years! Safe for animals and children too.!

We have three of these Duraflame quartz heaters, not all the same model, but they are essentially the same except for minor styling of the exterior. They are designed, according to the literature, to be supplemental heat up to 1,000 square feet but we use them as the sole source of heat in small areas, the largest area being about 17X30 square feet.

For a space heater this infrared quartz heater is far superior to a filament type space heater and in my opinion much safer. It warms the entire room and you don't have to be standing in front of the heater to feel warmth. I find it amazing how even the heat is. We put the heater near a corner, pointing out towards the center of the room. The exterior of the heater doesn't even get warm. The cat will sometimes sleep on top of it. Air is drawn in from the back and blows out of a slot at the top of the front.

The heater is thermostatically controlled but you have to play around a bit to get it set so the room stays at the desired temperature. Rather than relying on the temperature readout on the unit, use your own sense of comfortable air temperature and set it accordingly. When the unit kicks in a fan comes on and it is a bit loud. This is the only negative in my opinion, but not a reason to reject this heater, and loudness is a subjective thing. It is not really bothersome as it amounts to white noise.

I'm quite happy with the performance of this heater.

Excellent appearance, fairly quiet, puts out nice heat and is equally as good as my Eden pure heater that is a little louder. I would highly recommend instead of an Eden pure due to price difference. My only complaint is that it's not made in USA. Primarily used for supplemental heating ,back up in event furnace fails and to heat 3 season room for winter parties. Prefer this type heater over coil or radiator oil filled types.
