I wanted to like this little box. I really did. It looked cute. It matched my iMac however, after plugging it in only a few times it was apparent that the USB plug was so poorly made that the connectors in the plug would no longer make contact with the computer rendering the little box useless. I can't recommend this device. You may want to find a more reliable brand with better quality control.

I got this for my laptop; I only have three USB ports and use one for my mouse, one for a 16 GB USB stick devoted to ready boost. So that only leaves me one free USB port. Now I can plug in my gaming controller, my drawing pen, and whatever else catches my fancy.

Not only is this 4 port aluminum USB Hub functional it is also very stylish too. It really looks cool sitting on my work station nestled between my laptop and a desk lamp. When you look at the USB Hub you think Apple stuff and it’s true it looks like it would fit in just fine with your Apple computers but I have my Hub hooked up to my Toshiba.

Besides being functional and stylish it is rather small and comes with a 11 inch shielded cable so you don’t have to have that hub located directly next to your computer, you can put the hub out a ways from everything else if you want too. I agree that there is nothing worse than a cluttered desk!

Would I buy this item again, yes I would and I would recommend it to anyone that has a need. By the way this hub comes in black also.

I received this item free for review. Despite that kindness I give my candid thoughts below.

* Works as advertised; simple plug and go

* On the surface, it's a pretty sleek item but deeper inspection the quality just feels a bit off. It's cheap; you get what you pay for.

* Also worth noting that it requires no outside power source but also doesn't allow an outside power source. So this is going to work for a few low-power accessories but nothing major

I don't know if it is a coincidence but ever since I started using this in my older iMac I've begun to have problems with my time machine backing up to my external hard drive l. In fact the computer doesn't even recognize the the hard drive is plugged in and I have it plugged in directly to the computer not this device. Now my computer/time machine is saving the back up to my start up disc and I keep getting notifications popping up that my start up disc is full. I'm really not knowledgable on computers so maybe this is all unrelated. But I find it strange that this started happening after I started using this port. :(

This little USB hub is great. Just as described, it looks great on my desk and matches my MacBook Air nicely. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that it became very clear at set up that the multiple wires running to it caused it not to sit flat on my desk - which is why the makers provided two pieces of velcro to keep it upright. This worked perfectly, until two days later the velcro adhesive became unstuck from the actual hub ... I'm not sure if I pulled it by mistake, or if the wires are just creating enough tension to slowly pull free from the hub, but it's a little annoying. I'm planning on using a little super glue to reattach the velcro to the hub though. Overall, a nice purchase, it works and looks great.

It's great to have these additional ports for all the things we need to plug into our mini. We have noticed, however, that it takes a while to pull up information from something plugged into this hub, as opposed to something plugged straight into the computer. But, it is worth it to be able to have more things plugged in at once! Time machines have to be plugged straight in to the computer, and will not work automatically through this hub.

UPDATE!! Item is dead. VERY light usage, and 4 months later Dead. Try buying a better quality item. STill looks great, and feels great, but now it is a paperweight.

Tried plugging into multiple usb drives on multiple computers, and NOthing. BOO Cateck. You should change your name from "Cateck Preimium" to "Cateck cheap product that doesn't last" Not as catchy, but it is #truth.

Its nice, looks good and matches the mac Color. The only reason I gave it a 3 is because it doesn't allow for controllers to "pass through" meaning, no data can pass from a plug and play through this port, into the computer. It simply works for maybe a phone charge or any typical USB function that doesn't require full USB functioning. I am pretty savvy when it comes to technology, so with that said it is a good product and it arrived as I requested.
