The description of the item says they are fried in pure palm olein oil. The bag I just received says fried in vegetable oil. Big difference! If you don't mind eating industrial, rancid oils you will love these. They taste great. If you actually care about your health though I suggest sticking with Inca chips. What is it they say? "If it seems too good to be true....." That pretty much sums it up for me. This seems to me to be willful deception on the part of the seller. I posted a question about this to see if anyone knows anything about this or can explain it to me. If I find there is some reasonable excuse for this I will update my review.

i have tried many plantain chips and these are the best ones I have had. Some reviewers have been posting concerns about the oil used to make these. I also bought these because they were supposedly cooked in Palm oil, but the bag I received just says vegetable oil. I contacted the seller and they confirmed that is is palm oil and also sent me a picture of the bulk box with the ingredients listed and it said "vegetable Palm oil. If there is doubt, look at the nutrition profile. I am pretty sure Palm oil is the only vegetable oil that is saturated fat and the nutrition label only lists saturated fat, so it can't be some other vegetable oil.

These tastes good but I was disappointed to find that they contain hydrogenated oil. There should be more information in the listing. If I had known that "roasted" meant the they contained hydrogenated oil I would have waited to go to my favorite Farmer's Market store to buy the ones cooked in coconut oil.

I've tried other plantain chips and these are by far the best. The others I have tried are too sweet and these are salty and savory with a touch of sweetness. My only complaint is that it is hard to get them as they disappear from stock rather quickly. But anytime I see them available, I buy several pounds so that they last me a while.

These are very good banana chips and the bag is large and a good value for the price. I wish they would put more salt on banana chips. I know that salt is supposedly not healthy, but I don't eat these for my health. I eat them because I like them. I would like them better with more salt.

The first time I ever had plantain chips was in Honduras. When I got home, I had to find them here in the US and was so happy to find these on Amazon The first order I got was good but half the chips were crushed. This time they came crisp and tasty and very few crushed. I am thrilled. I will be ordering these for as long as they are available on Amazon.

Awesome tasting product! Some of the other reviews were right, these are quite salty. That is no problem for me, as these are replacing my Lay's potato chip obsession since starting the paleo diet. They also are filling in comparison to eating a bunch of those potato chips. The one star deduction is that there were a lot of broken pieces, not horrible, but it would be nice to have the chips mostly in tact when received.

These taste great, just be advised they do arrive pretty crumbly... You're not going to get a pretty presentation with these unless you do a whole lot of picking through the bag but that's not what I purchased these for anyway. Mostly I'm looking for a healthier snack option for my paleo family on the go and so far this fits the bill. The other brands that I have researched seem to have palm olein in them, for those not familiar with the difference between Palm olein and palm oil I just want to say that you don't want olein anything because to produce it there is a biochemical process aka "biotechnology" to extract it making it no better than canola oil or many of the other oils that are considered toxic, this brand uses palm oil not olein. Although palm oil is considered a vegetable oil I'd prefer Green Bulk label this product with the palm oil they claim to be using so as to alleviate any confusion. I love the taste (they're more on the savory side for those not familiar with plantains), they make a great paleo snack, they don't have that rancid oil taste that most processed foods have, they are made with Palm oil, they DON'T use biotechnology to make these, I believe they are sourced from Peru (they are against GMO there), they're Gluten free, and they're a great value. I would recommend these if you're looking for a healthier alternative to potato chips or quick snacky foods.
