Quality hardware. I have a 24" LCD and 15" laptop and it has no issues at all.

Only real complaint would be tilting things forwards/backwards is not smooth like it is side to side. The tilting is based on how tight the screws are tightened...which means you have to loosen/tighten each time you wish to change the tilt angle. Side to side does not have this issue.

*Update* So we have been, ok no, my bf has been using this now for a month. And it works just as we hoped. No drops, no sagging and most importantly it holds up through the back and forth of swinging the arm. We are considering buying another to attach to our couch in our other room. The only thing he wished about this was a little more room so he can use a mouse (he isn't used to the touch pad mouse) I personally don't know why you need one anymore. But this is exactly what we wanted and it has held up really well. Which also include my smaller of the 2 cats sitting on top of his laptop. I was so scared when I saw her on it but it held up thankfully!! But now she knows not to sit on it. Or just doesn't do it when we are around.
I did see someone mention it is shorter than they thought & we thought the same thing but from the pole its full length is 21" but to the end of the extension arm it is only 14" which is pretty much about to the center of the flat surface. Hopefully that measurements helps someone.

We needed this because my bf wanted something to hold his new bigger 17" laptop while he worked from his recliner. Yes I know rough life right? He put this on a wood side table and now can work while sitting comfortably. It holds his big 17" Dell inspiration 5000 just fine. It is bigger than my macbook pro 17" (didn't think that was possible). He did add some cork to the tray to prevent any accidental slips. And used velcro strips to connect his removable hard drive so it won't fall on the floor. Its nice and sturdy and I would definitely recommend this. The arm is a little shorter than he would like but found that it worked out ok. He loves that he can now just push it off to the side when he needs to get up and everything is secure and in its place.Read more ›

The title says it all. This thing is as solid as a rock. It was kind of awkward putting it together and the instructions are minimal but it was pretty simple to put together and install on my desk. Some cons are that my monitor now wobbles because of the weight shifting and I broke a bolt cover but all in all this was a great purchase. If you have a small desk and need to make space hang your monitor or laptop on it and your done. It's sturdy and very adjustable. If your wondering I have a macbook pro 13'' and I have about an inch of extra room. Luckily, when I buy a 15" mbp I will still be able to use this since it has no side edges on one side and enclosed side edges on the other.

Update: Now up to 5 stars, very rare rating, but well deserved. After 6 months of hard daily use, it still looks like the day it came out of the box. I did modify the mount some (see below), but I have been so impressed I had to come back and upgrade this items status. I attached plywood and non-slip to the tray, and mounted the whole thing on the side of my recliner. I use it all day, every day as my main living/working surface. I have mounted various things on the top arm (46" monitor is on wall), and all has worked well, but no magic use yet, other than to remove the vertical pipe's end cap, and I hook my reading glasses there which has turned out to be my favorite thing to always have super handy and won't scratch them. I do have a prop to support the far end of my platform so I can put my full arm weight on it, but I can also rest my hands on the cantilevered arm (with plywood etc. adding to the weight) without serious problem. I would say it can support wrist weight, but not arm weight, which is how I believe it is designed anyhow. I have tightened the clamp parts down many times and so far no fade in holding power. That goes for all the joints as well. You can torque them down hard, even to the point of not really being able to move them, and they stay that way! Who would have thunk it! Seriously, the joints are great and tighten well and stay tight with the included wrench, which I have hanging from a hook on the back of my chair. It comes with nice plastic covers over all the joints etc, but I have ended up leaving them off, and removed most of the cable clips, they were fine although a bit weak, but having never used them I can't really say. Black electrical tape, velcro, or twist ties almost disappear over the black arms if needed.Read more ›

the photos show a diagram of the size of the arm on the mount. says its 22" long. its only 16". there were other sellers with the same product that stated the arm on there mount was only 16" but they sold it for less money. I would have bought the arm from one of them. the material is sturdy the arm works like it says and it came in a timely manner no problems but the advertising is deceiving.
