Great quality, but not comfortable to wear as a backpack. I was looking for a backpack to carry my dog in when taking him on long walks/hikes for when he gets tired and needs a little break. My 11 pound dog fit comfortably in the backpack itself, but when I put the backpack on with him in it it killed my back after about five minutes of just standing there. The backpack has padding for your back, but since the backpack is so boxy it sits at a weird angle on your back (you can kind of get a sense of the weird angle if you look at the product photo) that is extremely uncomfortable. Also, although not shown in the product photos, there is a strap in the front that you can secure across your chest; unfortunately the strap sits way too high, so much so that it basically chokes you, and ultimately does nothing to help distribute the weight of the backpack. I really wanted to like this thing, but ended up returning it (along with a quarter of what I paid for it in return shipping fees). It may work better for a dog that weighs less, but overall I think most would find the wearability to be very uncomfortable.

As a backpack, it's WONDERFUL! Sure, it's a little bulky, you might feel like you've got a hiking backpack on your back, haha. But it's sturdy, plenty of room for my 13 pound terrier, and a comfy floor cushion for him. The adjustable straps make it fit great on me - and I'm only 5 feet tall. My dog seems to enjoy sitting in it, there's two layers of zippers on top: a main one where you zip him in, and then a head hole that can be zipped or unzipped so he can look around. I don't think the bag is tall enough for over 10 pound dogs to have the headhole zipped and still sit up. But honestly, a bag that tall would be hard to manage anyway. Has lots of side pouches. Can be used as a side satchel, but I think it's too big for that. There is a latch inside that attached to your pet's collar. It's long enough to allow him to sit up with it, but not long enough to let him get out of the bag.

This is a great bag for the bus! It is sturdy, well made and designed thoughtfully. There are lots of pockets for poop bags, umbrella, wallet or whatever. The straps are cushy and fit well. The bag sits nicely beside me on the bus. The cover for the bottom pad unzips so you can wash it. The strap and buckles are metal so your dog can't chew them and they don't break. The chest strap is the only stupid part. It is so high it practically chokes me. It would be reasonable comfortable to carry my 11 pound dog a mile or two. I don't think it would fit a much larger dog. I take my dog to work every day on the bus and this bag has made that process a lot more comfortable. Excellent quality for the money.

I love this backpack! It's comfortable for my purposes which are very short trips. I can see this being comfortable on longer walks too because I can tighten the straps so that the bottom is high enough that it's not bothering my back at all--but I haven't tried it. Out 8.5 lb mutt fits in pretty well--she can lay down, but if she sits up with the zipper closed her head hits the top. I love that you can't really tell what's in there unless your pooch is making noise or bouncing around. The only issue is that our dog seems to get very warm in there if left inside with the zipper zipped up for more than a few minutes.

We bought this for our daughter to be able to take her dog with her on bike rides to the park which is a ways from her apartment. The grand puppy loves the ability to go and stick her head out or not depending on her mood, but because she can stick her head out, she doesn't get worried. The safety strap inside attaches to the dogs collar so they cannot jump out. The stiff bottom made it so this wasn't just a backpack that didn't provide support for the dog to lay down and take a snooze.

As others said, it did also hurt my shoulders and back. Bottom of the back lands on my back and it hurts and is really uncomfortable. I used it to fly on airplane and it did fit under the seat in front of me and seems cozy for my dog to be inside who is 7.5lb Chihuahua. I also used it to carry my dog for a short hiking but it really hurt and was uncomfortable. It is my first time using backpack so I don't have a comparason. Maybe I need to cushion to attach in the bottom area might help.

If my dog even sees the black and purple backpack come out, she goes wild!! Yapping and barking it's practically upside down as she, {without help) attempts to climb in. She loves to hang out of the top opening and can settle down inside when ready. It's light weight, it takes some getting use to because its shape is ergo- balanced and the weight is even across the bottom. it appears.slightly bulky at first, only you get use to it pretty quickly. Its vented however it seems warm on the inside all zipped up. This makes it ideal on hikes and chilly evenings she's content snuggled on the inside. We both are glad to have it!
