Setting up
From the unboxing to the first use, it took no effort and less than10 minutes. There are total five items in the box (computer, keyboard, mouse, power cable, and a paper quick setup guide), and the keyboard and mouse were already paired, and the computer was basically ready to use out of the box. This was probably the easiest and simplest windows pc setup I’ve ever tried. After turning the power on, things like creating an account and running some windows updates were typical and normal procedure. I noticed the first update was not lengthy, but over the week of usage, new updates were popping out frequently, and I set it do automatically.
Hardware
The overall built quality is very good. I liked the color combination of black and red. The design is somewhat similar to previous gen. iMac, but the stand part is unique compared to Apple’s. The size is also well managed to save desk top space. The wireless keyboard and mouse are very responsive and reliable. These are not bluetooth but also don’t require USB dongles to be plugged in.
The 23” touch screen with the IPS panel is very impressive. The colors are accurate; I didn’t feel necessary running my own calibration and the images and text looked vivid and crystal clear. There was no dead pixel or light bleeding; the display was just perfect in both size and quality. The ability of multi touching on this big sized screen was new to me, and I don’t know if I can go back to normal, non touchscreen desktop again. This changed the way I consume medias on a desktop scale just like the iPad did in small form factor. It’s a big screen with multitouch and everything from reading a news aritcles in the morning to listening to music in the afternoon is pleasant experience in newfound land.Read more ›
