If you're looking for a mount you can actually trust for your expensive smartphone, look no further. After extensive research, and a lot of failed purchases, THIS mount is clearly the best choice for people who want a rock solid mount that will safely hold your phone in place.

I have tried at least 10 other mounts, most of them are spring loaded plastic contraptions that simply are not guaranteed to hold your phone in place. With those spring loaded mounts, all it takes is a small bump and your phone can pop out.

So, I decided to start looking for a better mount that would have two critical features:

I wanted one made out of metal, not plastic.

I wanted one with a clamp, not a spring.

The RetiCAM has both of these features and when I clamped my phone into it, I knew I had a winner. Once your phone is in there, it's not going to fall out. It has a comfortable amount of rubber on the top and bottom to insure it doesn't scratch your phone, and the gap is large enough to hold your phone with or without a case.

In my case, I paid a few extra dollars and opted for the package that comes with the regular and XL conversion kit. This lets me use just about any phone. Making the change from the iPhone 5 to 6 Plus or any phone in between a breeze.

Very well built and no chance of phone falling out. Tons of available width but the great news is the depth. I have the [NFC/Google Wallet Capable] Anker® 6400mAh Extended Battery for Samsung Galaxy NOTE 3 III] on my Note 3 + the Hyperion Samsung Galaxy Note 3 HoneyComb Matte TPU Case / Cover for the Extended Battery + a strip of Velcro on back. The back of the Note 3 does not hit the shaft. In fact, there is about 2mm to spare. See my pic for my DSLR Ring Flash Rig

Works as promised with my iPhone 6 Plus. I've used it with and without a case on the phone. Could be designed to be a bit more compact but that is another point. This mount comes with me on my mountain bike rides along with a tripod. I'm pleased with it so far. I snug now the screw during transport on the bike rack so it doesn't shake apart. Pretty rough treatment when not in use but it has suffered no ill effect.

I never give a positive endorsement to a shoddy made product regardless of where it is manufactured. Having bought many camera and bicycle gadgets on eBay and Amazon with majority of them requires modification to work properly, this little phone tripod mount is an exception.

The construction is all solid metal. It seems very steady and clamps my Samsung Note 3 phone snugly and securely. I bought one and left it in my car to use my phone as a full time GPS navigation when I drive (of course, suction cup tripod mount is not included and has to be purchased separately for about $7). I am buying a second unit to use it in my office to read kindle ebooks and stream music via Bluetooth to my wireless speaker.

The ONLY smartphone that will truly hold phone secure. I use this for in car, motocycle, backpacking, snowboarding, adventuring, etc. I know when I secure it down with the thumb screw it isn't going anywhere. Well worth every penny I spent. thank you RetiCAM for this product. Only one I found with a thumb tension screw.

This is a very well made mount. The machined mount is aluminum. The twin sliders appear to be steel as does the threaded insert. That threaded part has a plastic knob on top. For my iPhone 5 it is just a tiny bit loose if the phone isn't in its case. Within its case the phone is rock solid in this mount. A larger phone, like my wife's 4s fits as is. This is just what I wanted to mount my phone for taking videos. I have no fear of using this mount.

This mount is probably the best of the crop -- I guess you get what you pay for. I like the design and the very secure way the clamp grips my iPhone 6 in Luvvitt Ultra Armor case (another winner by the way). The only thing I'm not sold on was the decision to use plastic slider rods on either side of the adjustment screw. The rods are pretty flexible and allow the whole clamp to slightly deflect and bow out from top to bottom (see others' attached images). I solved this problem a trip to my local Ace -- I opted to replace the plastic pins with slightly longer 3/16" dia. clovis pins cut down to about 2.5" in length. Even though my digital caliper measured the both sets of pins at 3/16", there was just a slight bit of play when using the new stainless pins. A tiny wrap of clear tape on the new pins made them fit snugly, but loose enough to slide. In retrospect, I should have take the mount the hardware store with me. There is a lot of variance in the finished size of the clovis pins; I'm sure I could have found a pair that fit more snugly -- another 1/32" would have been perfect.

I have to say that I'm very happy that I decided to go with this phone mount. I was considering this one and the one from Jellyfish. After reading up on both I went with this one. The Jellyfish mount was cheaper, but it was also made with plastic. I was tired of plastic phone mounts not living up to their expectations.

The RetiCAM mount is brilliant in it's simplicity. Put your phone in, tighten it down and you're good to go. I paired this up with a RAM Mount and I can say that I don't think I have anything to worry about. This thing grips my phone like a long lost lover.

The only bad thing's that I can say about it is that the two rods inside the mount are not metal, they seem to be some kind of plastic. This does allow the unit to bend slightly backwards when tightened down, but I can't see it being a problem. And I could totally picture someone torquing down the screw too much and damaging their phone.

Great product, though, I'm very happy with my purchase.
