I just took delivery of the 65UB9500. I have to say I am very pleased with this panel, really outstanding if I have to be honest - and I am very demanding, having had my share of poor panels in the past. 4k output is outstanding! (google the Iceland Tour 4k video on youtube)

The good: Great color, uniformity very good. No banding, very little if any flashlighting, no clouding on this panel. SCORE! Here is something I didn't expect - on board sound is very good!

The bad: Expensive, but I would rather pay a little more rather than mess with all the issues of cheaper sets. You get what you pay for! I like a bargain ... but with new tech ... hey its what it is. Can't really find too much more right now.

It is set up in a large family room with windows down one side. I wanted an IPS panel for wider viewing angles but the concern with most of these is reflective screens ... yes, it is reflective but nowhere near as bad as I was led to believe, once fired up reflections are minimal. I would much rather deal with minimal reflections than have to put up with the drop in contrast and color wash out on most 4k screens.

I have set up the screen with the following settings and am really happy

Originally we were happy with this TV. But then we started to notice vertical grayish lines going across the screen in few areas of the screen. The defect was mostly visible on pale colors, with video such as sports or nature. It was also especially visible and causing distraction to the viewer when picture was moving around, creating an effect the something is sticking to the inside of the screen. We thought warranty support would take care of this, how wrong were we.

We called LG and they sent technician to our place where he identified the problem, and ordered replacement panel. After the panel was replaced the issue became worse. Now instead of few grayish line in the screen, we had full array of them covering nearly every spot. It appeared LG has replaced one defective panel with another. LG technician right away told us that since the panel was replaced that was the ultimate fix. We of course requested further service. LG technician started to agree that problem needs to be continued to be worked on, but requested we call LG customer support to have second panel replacement approved or for possibility of getting replacement TV. We haven’t received either.

LG customer support line has few tiers of support. The first tier, which picks up nearly instantaneously, are very basic support where it seems LG has hired bunch of 16-18 year olds. Not a single time I got to speak to anyone knowledgeable or even anyone with mature voice at this level. For problem like ours we were always transferred to so called VIP line. But to even speak to someone there we were constantly on hold 20 minutes to 1 hour.Read more ›

I was looking for a TV to replace my current 47" Phillips TV I bought about 6 years ago before Smart TV's. The elements in my choices were current technology, screen clarity, ease of use, longevity, and price.

When I first looked at this TV it was still in the $3000 price bracket so I looked it over and continued to some of the cheaper models. After all budget is a consideration, but you get what you pay for.

What originally drew me to the TV was technology. The 4k and 4k upconversion were points of interest with this TV. After looking at Samsung and Vizio, the 4k clarity on this was remarkable. Now let me tell you my experience after buying it:

I am an avid gamer which is why I got the 120hz. What I did not know was that the TV would upconvert my games to 4K which makes them look amazing. I knew it would upconvert movies, but I did not know it would upconvert my games. It blew my mind at how clear it was.

Watching 4K content, although still limited is amazing. I love how clear things are and how much detail is seen. When I looked at this side by side with a Vizeo running the same show it was clear that not all TV's are the same. Where the Vizeo showed noise, the LG showed a clear picture.

The interface is also a huge upgrade. Being able to have a menu on screen to switch HDMI ports it's great. Not having to get up and swap between BluRay, TV, and my XBOX 360, PS4 and XBOX One is a huge bonus. Just click on screen and there you go. Plus you can watch Netflix and YouTube 4K content. The 3D component wasn't even on my list but the 3D on this is a amazing if it gets phased out eventually that would be sad, but there are still some thing that are great. This even had a faux 3D that takes regular programs and converts them to 3D.Read more ›
