Compared to my chrome plated Stanley pliers (Model 1550), these are heavier and have nicer action.
At a young age I learned that the "wire cutter" notch on pliers is a sad joke. Unlearn that...it actually works well on these (see Note 1). A sign of good design and craftsmanship.
PROs:
- A little heavier than my household pliers
- Smooth, reasonably precise action
- The wire cutter actually works (see Note 1)
OKs:
- The pivot bolt and nut stick out more than on some pliers...could be an issue in some low-clearance situations.
- They are not chrome plated. We'll see how the rust situation plays out with "4150 alloy steel."
- The sideways alignment of the tips is not perfect (0.015" off) and I found very tiny burrs at the tips (easily removed). This is the kind of picky stuff you resort to when reviewing a higher quality tool.
CONs:
- More expensive than basic pliers such as Stanley 84-055 Bi-Material Slip Joint Plier, 6-5/8 Inch
