The ASICS� Gunlap� spike delivers exceptional performance with a sleek, low profile and a decoupled spike plate. At only four ounces, elite milers and steeple enthusiasts will appreciate the lightweight, form-fitting feel of this women's track shoe. The ripstop nylon upper is reinforced by hot-melt TPU overlays for a sock-like fit, while a series of reinforced perforations allow for ventilation and water drainage when used in the steeplechase. The Solyte� midsole of the ASICS� Gunlap� athletic shoe enhances durability and cushioning heel, with a medial/lateral decoupled Pebax spike plate up front for traction at all angles. The SharkDuo� outsole provides increased traction on track surfaces.

In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness.
