Asics is seemingly one of the only brands that maintains a consistent sizing over the years. I bought a few a pairs of Adidas and Nike running shoes recently. All were the same size but each style fit differently and none quite had the fit I was looking for and I ended up returning them all. I had just thrown out an out pair of Asics which had to be at least 8 years old so I figured why not try another pair although I was looking to get a more serious running shoe (whatever that means). To my surprise the shoe fit great and it had the cushioning I was hoping for. More expensive isn't always better in my case I guess. I'm not 100% thrilled with the style but I'm not 100% thrilled with any of the running shoe styles these days - so as long as I don't get shin splints and I don't feel too stupid in them, I'm happy.

Best shoes ever!

This is my third pair of ASICS Gels. The first two pair I paid over $100.00 each for. These were about half the price and they feel just as good as the more expensive ones.

Like walking on air

Since my first pair of Asics I have been a fan. Not all of them lived up to my expectations so I was a little concerned about these but they turned out absolutely great. I am overweight and have pain in my joints ... these are great. I especially like to walk and they give me the support I need. Some have said they need more support with an insert ... it certainly has room in my 4E even if I have a fat foot but I am happy with them. I am writing this review after about a month of use ... and you can see I am happy!

Smallest Size 13 I've Ever Purchased: I exchanged 13 for 13 4E

I wear 12-13 depending on the shoe. Some 13 shoes are too big and cause heel friction. This shoe is the smallest 13 I've ever purchased. It's the only 13 shoe I've ever bought that is a tad snug. Not a deal killer but if I buy again, I'd go with 13.5. And I'd go with a wide option, which is available I believe in some models but not this one. The arch support is good. The shoe isn't too busy in the looks department. It's a good shoe at this price point, but beware of its small size.
Update:
I ended up exchanging it for size 13 4E (double wide) and now I'm much happier with the comfortable fit and would be more inclined to give it 5 stars.

I have very wide feet and have multiple problems with them. I have had to use New Balance in the past as they are the only one easy to find locally. These Asics though, are perfect. I'll update the review in the future with longevity and thoughts.

POOR QUALITY/INCONSISTANT SIZING

I have been wearing ASICS athletic shoes for at least the last 20 years and there use to be a time I thought they made a quality product.
Unfortunately for me the quality and consistency of these shoes have diminished to the point that I can no longer wear them.
I have wide feet and and normally need 4E width shoes. Where in the past I did OK fitting into 2E shoes, I now need 4E.
These last 2 pairs (different styles/extra wide 4E) that I'm returning are because it physically hurt my feet just trying to get them on.
Use to be when they were a little tight I could count on the shoes loosening up over time, but not anymore.
I've discussed this with my foot Dr. and he told me it's not all due to my feet getting wider it's most likely the shoes getting narrower.
This does make sense because my orthotics are becoming tighter fitting as well and require more trimming to fit the shoes narrower width.
Oh well I'm sure this isn't the only brand that's been skimping on materials and labor over the years to keep profits up.
I now go off in search of a new brand that actually sells 4E width shoes- without breaking the bank!

These shoes are a disappointment. I bought a size 6

I bought these because they were listed as a "running" shoe and because they aren't made with animal products. I've been loyal to K-Swiss for my running shoes assuming that wearing leather was the only option for a true running shoe.

These shoes are a disappointment. I bought a size 6.5 regular width (I'm a small guy). The length is spot on, but the width is ridiculously narrow. The right shoe in particular cuts into my ankle causing pain. My feet are smaller than average, and the notion that I should have bought a wide shoe is just crazy. I guess that I'd have to advise anyone intent on buying these to buy a width wider than you think is reasonable.

The gel heal is nice; the shock absorption is the best I've experienced. Unfortunately, the hard tread causes vibration in the ball and toe area. Along with the constriction of my heal, the first mile or so of my run is painful. Eventually the pain in my heal becomes "normal" and the vibration causes a weird numbness in the ball/toe part of my feet. So the best I can say of these shoes is that they don't cause injury (hence the two stars).

If you buy a larger than normal width, these may make a decent walking shoe, but these are not for running. I'm sorry I spent the money on these and am still looking for an animal-product-free real running shoe.
