I have been taking 500 mg. of evening primrose oil twice a day for about 3 months now to alleviate problems with brittle nails (recommended by Dr. Andrew Weil). I've been very encouraged with positive results & plan to continue. It's difficult to find this product in the 500 mg. strength and when I have, the price is much higher than here on Amazon. One other thing: The reviewer who said that you need to take 3 pills to get 500 mg. is absolutely wrong. After reading that, I checked my bottle. It does indicate that 1 "serving" equals 3 softgels. However, the data provided also says that 1 serving will provide 1,500 mg. of evening primrose oil. So no worries: one pill equals 500 mg.

If you suffer from PMS, this product is excellent. You do have to use it for about a month before you notice the good effects but I'm so glad I found it when I had that problem. It relieves some of the symptoms of PMS especially the sore/tender breasts which I suffered from severely but it stopped it from ocurring completely.

I've had hormone regulation issues since my thyroid was removed 3 years ago (cancer)- when I went off my birth control about 6 months after my surgery (my acne seemed to be under control), I didn't get a period for a year. I eventually went back on the pill (turns out my adult acne was only taunting me....it came back pretty bad). While it worked for a couple months, I eventually started getting my period every 2 weeks. Definitely not fun.

I actually didn't start taking EPO for acne reasons- I was interested more in hormone regulation and weight loss. While I did not experience weight loss (I'm not overweight, but I have about 10-15 extra pounds I'd like to shed), I have experienced some hormone balance. Granted, I'm on a new birth control pill and that might be helping too, my acne patches have faded TREMENDOUSLY and I rarely get zits anymore (which is a big deal, since my acne is cystic). I actually didn't put 2 and 2 together right away.....I came back on Amazon and read reviews about how it really helped some people's acne....and I realized that my face clearing correlated with taking the full dose (3 pills, 2x/day) consistently.

So while the EPO might not help you shed those last pounds (CLA might, though! I saw some success with that), if you have adult acne issues, this might be your answer. The results won't be immediate, but I couldn't be happier with the (accidental) results! I also stand behind the NOW brand. I've purchased many of their supplements and appreciate the quality of their products.
