I have been using Sugru since the manufacturer was a small startup company, ordering directly from the UK and paying in pounds sterling. It is much easier to obtain in the US now, thank goodness.

I have to disagree with the reviewers and commenters on Amazon who panned this product. They are trying to use this for a variety of purposes for which it is ill suited. They want to use it as a moulding compound, silicone substitute, plastic sculpture material or clay substitute. It is none of these things.

Sugru is unique. There is no substitute. It is a cross between a foam and an adhesive, and a solution for many problems and DIY projects. It is tough and resilient and adheres well but also removes well. Do you want a foam grip on a tool? To reinforce a cable connection? Glue something but want to be able to peel off the glue later? Want cushioned feet on a piece of equipment and no pads last long? Add a grip to a camera? Bumpers on an iPhone? Add nobs to remote control buttons so you can feel them in the dark?

This is the only thing that will easily do it all, but a moulding compound or casting resin it ain't.

I have two Apple power supplies for apple laptops that have developed unsafe, exposed wires where the insulating rubber cover has pulled away at the ends, through regular use and wrapping the cord around the cord management "ears" on the devices. I had tried to fix them with electric tape, but that does not stand up to the bending and moving of the cord, and eventually the wires are exposed again. I used the white Sugru putty, and it worked really well, providing a strong, flexible, insulating cover at the spots on the power cables that experience the most stress. This little product saved me $80 for each replacement power supply.... Plus, I got to relive childhood memories of molding stuff out of Play-Doh. I have preemptively added it to my other Apple cords to reinforce the areas that bend a lot, to try and ensure a long life for my cables. My only gripe is that this stuff seems awfully pricey, for such a tiny amount of product. It is very similar in feel to some of the polymer clays and slow-cure epoxies you can find in the hobby/craft store, but it is considerably more expensive. It's also more flexible, once cured, and doesn't require baking to cure..... So maybe that's why? It's a very unique product, perfectly suited to personalizing and clever hacks for electronic devices. I am glad I know about it, now, and will probably order it again.

"Sugru: Form and Fix" is one of those funny substances that either works for you or doesn't. If you have ever played with Play Doh or Plasticine, you'll no doubt be a dab-hand with it; it is a self-curing silicone rubber compound that bonds to most materials (although not many fabrics) to effect a flexible yet durable repair or modification. Packaged in sealed foil sachets, "Sugru" starts out as a dry, clay-like material which you must first work between your fingers to make pliable and malleable. The material stays workable for 30 mins or so, which should give ample time to fashion most small repairs or additions. It needs a full 24 hours to cure, so for most applications it needs to be fashioned and then left for a day before being put to any use that might detach or deform it. It is available in a variety of colours and these are blendable to some extent, so that you can opt to be either conservative or creative with the colour scheme of your mends and modifications.

Each 5g sachet goes further than you might think: using just one I was able to repair the broken plastic binding of a lanyard; fashion some flexible hooks to hold the cable of my dashboard-mounted sat nav in place without having to drill into the plastic trim of the fascia; and fashion new stops for half a dozen doors on my kitchen units to replace the self-adhesive rubber ones which have either dropped off or turned hard over the years. Just how durable these repairs and alterations prove to be has yet to be determined, but the "Sugru" itself was easy enough to use and has bonded well to all of these surfaces so far.

Can't wait to find more uses for this stuff! Okay, I'm a real nut for clever new things, especially those that can help me save money or repair items that are past their prime. After seeing a YouTube video about how someone had made some custom molded ear buds using this, I've wanted to buy some and give it a try on some other projects.

My prime use for this was to repair some iPhone cables where the plastic casing was breaking away from the plug portion. In my experience, the lightening cables tend to be the most sensitive and likely to malfunction quickly. I would rather preserve my cables than to replace them periodically... Have you bought those things recently? Expensive! So. back to my project. Using a small pea-sized pinch of this putty, I was easily able to wrap the cable at its most fragile point, nearest the plug. I wrapped 3 cables, both ends, and still had used only about a third of one small 5g package. Within 24 hours, it hardened to a firm, somewhat flexible, rubbery consistency. It blends so well with the cable that, on first glance, it isn't noticeable, though that all depends on the user's ability to apply it neatly.

This will definitely be handy for small repairs or projects, but would be prohibitively expensive for a large job. Did you see the Sugru ad which showed a camera that had been encased with large rolls of this stuff? Once hardened, the camera can be tossed across the room and remain undamaged. BUT, this Sugru might be more expensive for that quantity than the price of the camera itself! Be careful that your Sugru repair doesn't cost more than just replacing your item.

So, that's my biggest objection, expensive for a tiny bit of product. I would also have preferred to buy a variety pack of white and black color.
