Great shoe!

I originally bought these last summer as a modified hiking boot for hiking in the Alps. They were perfect right out of the box and never gave me a blister or hot spot in three weeks of hiking and walking through Europe. The toe box is nice and roomy and the lacing system kept my foot snug so that my toes did not hit the end of the shoe on some of the seemingly-endless descents. Other parts of me were hurting, but never my feet. Have just ordered a new pair for Machu Picchu this summer.

Best shoes ever!

This is my third pair in a year. I have three color combinations. I get constant compliments on them and have had three friends buy them after hearing my rave reviews! I have high arches and normally wear 8.5. These feel true to size for me. Very supportive for Bootcamp, cross training etc. I am a fitness instructor and have had many brands and types of shoes over the years. These are at the top of the list!

Amazing shoe. These are my first Salomons and I ...

Amazing shoe. These are my first Salomons and I was previously wearing Avias for running. What drew me to these is the fantastic design and then after reading reviews I couldn't resist. I followed all the previous reviews and ordered a full size down from what I usually wear, SO glad I did. Compared to my Avias these have a firmer bed, not as soft, but very supportive and comfortable. My Avias are quite soft and squishy. So, I had to get use to these for a few days, now I LOVE them. Had I gone with my first impressions when I first put these shoes on I would have returned them, but after several days they have broken in so nicely and fit me like a glove! Today will be my first LONG run in them, they have preformed well on my shorter "break in" runs and walks. I wear a size 8 in sandals and dressy shoes, my Avias in an 8 always felt a wee bit big, The Salomons in a 7 fit me like a glove, secure and snug for a perfect break in. I have high arches and they feel adequate in their arch support. Also I can "feel" the ground with these in a good way. Better footing and less sloppy. All that to say, give these shoes an adequate break in time, if your first impression is stiff and tight (depending on what you have previously worn) give them a little time and see if they don't turn into your favorite running shoe. And look good doing it.

Great shoes, minus the weird lacing device

I really like these shoes a lot. The color is fantastic and bright and they are super comfy. I get compliments on them daily. The only two complaints I have are the laces, which aren't laces but a weird plastic device that pulleys the laces together. Since these are just a tad to wide, I really have to cinch the pulley down, which then causes the laces to be super long, and the plastic holder on the end of the pulley hits the ground and could be a tripping hazard. I have to wrap the laces and plastic holder around the loop on the tongue of the shoe. Wish these had either shorter laces, or regular laces all together.

Salomon is now my alternative hiking footwear brand!

I bought these primarily for summer hiking, not trail running. I wanted a lighter, more ventilated shoe. These definitely fit the bill, and the color really pops! I first wore them one day to see how they felt, then went on a 9 miles hike with my Sunday group. No added insoles, although I had been using a memory foam insole in my Vasque hiking shoes. They felt great, even the long downhill at the end of the hike didn't mash my toes!

I was a bit concerned about ordering the correct size. I wear a 8.5 in regular sneakers, and a 9 in hiking boots. According to the Salomon size chart (on their website) I should get 8.5, so I did, even though many reviewers said they ran large. At first my left big toe felt too close to the front edge, but if I make certain my heel is set firmly against the back before tightening the laces, they fit just fine. They are comfortably snug from heel to mid-foot, then they open up to a roomy toe box.

The Quick-Lace system works OK, and there will be no more untied laces when hiking through underbrush!

Although I am happy with Vasque boots, I will definitely consider purchasing Salomon boots in the future!

Accurate sizing

My wife usually wears an 8 1/2 US and I ordered the Salomons in her size and they fit perfectly. Initially very comfortable and she really likes the look and quick lace feature. No long term review on these but if they hold up like my Salomons I don't foresee there being any issues. Recommended.

Let's go on an Adventure

I love these shoes! This is my fourth pair of XR mission's and I love them. I didn't need a fourth pair but the color was so wonderful and vibrant and the price couldn't be beat. Usually these are $130 so for 60 it's an amazing deal. I can wear them running, hiking, just out on errands or exploring all day long. I have had issues finding running shoe because my feet are so narrow. I have spent ton's of money on running shoes to find something comfortable and will fit my feet without giving me shin splints. These shoes are perfect because they run a little narrow. I love all the colors I have and they are versatile so you can use for running errands or taking a long hike. My friend uses these because she has two bad hips and a bad back from a car accident and she can wear them all day in complete comfort. The quicklaces are the best just slide on, cinch and go.
