It just arrived yesterday, and i gotta say that it surpassed all my expectations by miles! im writing this review because when i bought this bass online it felt like a gamble, but im so happy that i took the risk and purchased this bass. it felt like a risk because i saw very few reviews about this jaguar in particular, and the reviews i found online were from somewhat beginer bass players that just like the bass because of its looks, but this bass has way more than badass esthetics,i have played guitar and bass for 15 years and i can honestly say that the finish and construction on this bass are incredible... really im not kidding, i had a USA deluxe strat for many years and this bass compares equaly in my opinion to that guitar constructionwise, the neck on this jaguar is so smooth and easy to play incredible fast action with no buzz! i really love this neck it is pure maple and has a beautifull golden brown stain to it, not that milky pale wood that you see in so many copies of this classic bass, the pickups i was worried but turns out that they like the rest of the bass are awesome the combination of the bridge jazz pickup and the neck Pbass pickup make this instrument so versatil, i love the combination of the two togheter it gives you a compressed full tone that is rich and balanced i have been searching for this sound for years, previously only foud this sound in basses that were 2 to 3 times the price of this one. in summary buy this bass this is NOT a beginer bass. This is as proffesional as it gets and i will blindly recomend any of the modern player series to any bass player period. I have to give thanks to the chinese workforce for this, its not all for nothing China your crappy salaries result in happy people all around the world.

I am a recording artist and a luthier. I am extremely picky about my instruments, and usually build them myself, but I was looking for a decent studio/recording bass for a soundtrack commission in a hurry and for a reasonable price, and this more than fits the bill! This is an awesome bass for the price! The neck is fast and gorgeous. The body is extremely comfortable. The whole instrument is very well-balanced and light. The sound is really solid classic P/J.

This is a very solid instrument as is, and will be a fantastic platform for mods/customizations (hipshot bridge, more aggressive electronics, and a bone nut all come to mind.) I will wind up doing all of those, but most people won't feel the need to- this is a great bass.

Don't let the Fender website fool you - this is not an entry level bass, only the price is. From the brass saddle, to the pickups to the very cool aesthetics, this bass has all of the cool vibe of its 60's siblings without the price tag. Out of the box, the action was slightly high, so I lowered the action to my liking with the included tools. The pbass p/u is deep, responsive and articulate while the j pup is bright but not harsh. The sounds between the two are endless. The neck is maple. Although the photo of the neck is a light maple, the actual color looks slightly amber, giving it a cool vintage vibe. The black finish is typical Fender high quality. The frets play easily, although a few could use a dressing. There is plenty of sustain between the maple neck, koto body and brass saddle. Overall, the bass feels great, looks great and sounds great.

I bought this bass sight unseen because I couldn't find anywhere with one in stock. I took a liking to the Jaguar body but could find no other one with a maple fretboard. The neck is perfect after s slight adjustment. The fret work is superb, I can't say anything bad about the feel. It's like butter. I just had to tighten the truss rod just under a quarter turn to get it where I wanted it. The finish is good, nothing spectacular stands out, I mean it's a black body, it's shiny. I don't know from different finishes. The nut is imitation bone, looks like plastic to me, but that's an easy upgrade if I feel like it, the strings run through it at the proper height so I am not concerned at this time. The electronics dropped a star off of this review. I like passive and know not to expect active tone from this bass. The pickups are adequate, and I can get the tone I want from them. I am a PJ guy anyways and though I usually turn back the Pbass pickup to get my sound, I find this works better turning back the single coil. It has more twang than I expected which is good for me, just not exactly what I am used to. I knocked a star off because I am going to have to go in and shield the cavity or possibly replace some wires. It hums when I release the strings, meaning there is some poor workmanship in there, but it is $200 less than even the standard so I can't complain about having to do a little fixit on my own. The bass just feels good, the neck was what I was after, and if I ever upgrade to an American Standard model, this neck is going on it. I would say the price is worth it for the neck alone. Mind you this is a Chinese factory bass and individual experiences may vary.Read more ›
