It fits fine in all respects, a true 10 (I always wear a 10) but the weird thing is that the zipper where the pant leg comes off (to make shorts) is TOO TIGHT (if you go to the Columbia web site you will see tons of reviews there saying the same thing.) What a shame, these are great pants and a nice stretchy fabric but the zipper does not stretch so as soon as you kneel down or go up stairs, any time you bend your knee, that zipper digs into your leg. (I am 5'7" and 145 lb and have fairly thin muscular legs.) UPDATE I finally found the pants I needed, with enough pockets (yay!) and true to size, comfy --check out the Royal Robbins Women's Backcountry Zip N Go Pant

Nice light weight pants for hiking but the circumference where the pants zip into shorts is too tight around my leg. I bought a size up because I have large thighs so now the waist is too big. Bought size 20. Plus size clothes should be made for plus sized women.

These are great work clothes. Perfect stretch, some sort of waterproofing or quickdry. And they fit pretty well. My hip measurement is 39, and my thigh is 21 at it's widest point.

My only problem with these is that they aren't for kneeling, squatting, or even sitting. My bought the size 8, and it's almost too loose around my waist, the zipper diggs in when you bend your knees even a little. It's nothing that a little rearranging doesn't fix, but a with the light fabric the convertible style is completely unnecessary. The stretch fabric makes the zipper a bigger problem than it would be on a baggier, less yielding style.

Second photo: I'm balancing on the balls of my feet. Very cutting zipper.

I saw the reviews that mentioned the tight leg zippers before I bought these pants, but I somehow decided that I would be fine--my legs are proportional, and maybe everyone else just had massive tree trunks, right? Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. These pants were fantastic when I put them on. Comfortable and flattering, and a great fit. Then, I bent my knees. Later, I sat down. It was awful. Not only were the zippers uncomfortable tight, but there was visible leg muffin-top when sitting! Unless your thighs are much smaller in proportion to the rest of your body, I'd recommend skipping these. I only wish Columbia would make the non-convertible style in plus sizes.

Major Disappointment. These pants are quality made and fit wonderfully...EXCEPT. I read the reviews and the biggest complaint was the pants were too tight at the zipper. I got the pants tried them on and well I guess I should not have been surprised. I wear a 4 or a 6 - I bought a 6 regular, they fit really well, except at the zip off leg part. Too bad there is a defective design flaw with these pants.

I was excited to find tall hiking pants and was certain that my skinny legs would not have a problem with the narrow zipper-off portion other reviews complained about. Unfortunately, they are very restrictive around the thigh at the zipper when I bend my leg or sit down. So much so that it partially cuts off circulation when sitting for a while. I use these types of pants in my line of work, and these are the ones I choose when all others are in the wash. Such a shame because the leg length actually fits me, 6'0" 155lbs.

I would give these 5 stars if columbia would size things correctly. I generally wear a 20W or maybe a 22W but knowing colombia uses smaller sizes I ordered a 24W short (I'm 5'3) and they fit PERFECT. These are great pants. Some other reviewers said the zipper cut into their leg when sitting but I just didn't get that sense. All zipper on convertible pants will sit taught on the upper leg when sitting, I don't think these are any exception. I have very thick legs so if they really were tight I would know. if people find it that bothersome maybe convertible pants aren't for them.

These pants could have been perfect: they look nice, seem to be high quality, and fit amazingly well in all the right places - - - as long as you don't bend your knees... Based on reviews, I ordered one size up (although my thighs are neither wide nor muscular). And yet, I reluctantly join the many other reviewers who pointed out that even slight bending of the knees causes the zippers around the thighs to tighten, and sitting down increases this tightness, not only making the pants extremely uncomfortable, but also creating thigh muffin-tops, which I never knew existed before trying these pants on! I've never had this problem with any pair of pants before - something is flawed in the design.
