Awesome Battery Case

Color: Silver with 1 Extra Clear Bumper

This case is definitely one of the best battery cases for the iPhone 5. The design is magnificent and offers very good protection, considering the fact that it is a battery case and not an Otterbox. It comes with two side bumpers that are clear and translucent pink. All of the features of the iPhone are completely accessible. Although, the case makes it hard to reach the earphone jack, The case comes with an extension jack which works perfectly. In addition, the case comes with a pretty good screen protector. You should definitely use it because there is not much space from the phone's screen and the bumper with the floor, should it drop face-down. Since the case traps the mic and the speaker, the sound does seem muffled a bit, but the mic works the same as always. The case does come with a built in stand which works very well, but it does seem a bit fragile, so take care of it.

Functionality-wise, the case performs just as stated. The battery can charge a fully dead iPhone to 100% and it even turns off automatically when it reaches 100% to prevent overcharging. The LED charge indicator is very accurate and looks very bright. The battery is very good and I have no complaints whatsoever.

Overall, it is one of the best battery cases out there. A good combination of battery functionality and case design from Alpatronix. Well, worth the price!

A welcome battery capacity boost with a couple areas for improvement

This review relates to the Alpatronix BX120 battery case for iPhone 5 and 5S.

Overall I am pretty pleased with this product. For starters, I didn’t see any specific claims as to extended battery life, but I can say that it nearly doubled or tripled my effective battery life of my iPhone 5. However, that comes with a few caveats. I have a two year old iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1, that without any charging throughout the day and moderate use with email and some Internet searching might suck a 100% charge at 7am down to “dead” somewhere between 4pm and 6pm, if I didn’t plug in at all throughout the day. That’s unsat in my book. So the BX120 has come in handy.

Pros: The first time I used the BX 120 for a full day with a full charge, I didn’t charge the phone until the following morning. That gave me about 24 hours of life with moderate use through the first day. I was down to about 70% on the morning of second day before I plugged into charge the phone and the case. Good show. I found when the phone gets a little tired (35-40%), I would punch the button on the back and get a full 100% charge within an hour or so. I could do that twice before having to recharge both the phone and the case. No complaints there. I have also use the “external” battery packs that have the USB connector. The BX120 is more convenient than those because it connects directly to the phone without the extra cable. The speakers are a bit of a cool addition too. While they don’t appear to amplify the iPhone’s internal speakers, it does seem that the case redirects the sound at the user quite effectively.

Cons: Going from a naked iPhone to the BX120 case, you more than double the weight and size, which is a bit of a bummer.Read more ›

This is my video review-So I've used a few different battery cases and this has got to one of my top 3 cases I love that it has a kickstand and a nice gloss back it does fingerprints but I can live with that since it just performs better than the other two in my top 3 The battery case has a identifying mark on it which is the Alpatronix Logo followed by the kickstand on the back The case comes with a Mini USB and instruction booklet and its is great for those who need more battery juice during the day If you are getting this to work the floor at CES or any convention then you love it the case has a Integrated high-capacity, 2400 mAh battery can offer over a full 120% charge to iPhone 5 in less than 2 hours This makes it for sure a true power extension for the iPhone 5, you will need an extra adapter to use your headphones which is included since the headphone jack this battery charger also charges very quick there is 4 LED each light is 25% battery status one

Glad I bought it

< Purpose >
I bought this item because I was tired of recharging my phone several times throughout a day (I use it a lot). I also had some situations were I hovered between 1~5% while trying to record special events with the camera.

< Cosmetic >
I bought a red model and it's opaque so it looks a little orange against the silver chassis of my phone. I wish it were a more solid red.

< Function >
Charges normally and I have had no problems after about three weeks of use. I've not timed it yet to confirm but it seems to recharge my phone quicker than a USB cable does. I can go a couple of days between charging now if I reduce my ration my usage a little from typical. It does get quite warm when it's recharging the phone from the battery pack.

The kickstand seems a little flimsy and easy to break but it's been fine so far and I don't use it as much as I expected to. There's a tiny groove for your fingernail to pop out the kickstand that I wish was on both sides of the stand so you didn't have to hold it just one way to pry it out.

The micro-USB port is nice and tight but I really don't like the placement. I like the apple port location (bottom center) and the USB port's location on the bottom right-hand side of the phone makes it awkward to hold while it's recharging.

< Size >
Initially, I didn't like the bulk that this added to my phone. It makes a shirt pocket sag and shows up in a suit jacket more. But in a pants pocket it's fine and I'm not noticing it as much the more I use it.

< Other >
Since the colored band is made of a kind of polycarbonate / hard material, it buzzes loudly when your phone is on vibrate and laying on a hard surface (ie a table top).Read more ›

Better than mophie
