Perfect summer boating shoe for kids

These are great for my sons, they are a croc like material but cool style and the quality you would expect for a KEEN shoe. I got them for boating this summer thinking they would be better than a regular sandal for getting in and out of the water and walking over rocks or in sand, also easy for the boys to get on and off. They have good traction and no padding or leather or anything that would wear out from getting wet and dirty repeatedly. I would definately buy this style KEEN again for my boys.

Throw out Crocs!

I got these shoes for my four year old son. In the past I always bought Crocs in the summer for him because they were easy to put on and off, they protect his toes, they can get wet and are easy to clean. Everything a mother of a four year old needs!! Unfortunately my son broke his leg last summer because he rolled his ankle wearing a pair of Crocs. (My fault, he should have not been running around with unsteady shoes!) So I decided no more Crocs. I came across the Keen Rio sandle and I knew this is what I was looking for! These shoes have all the convenience of the Crocs that I listed above, but, they aren't as bulky, they fit the foot better (tighter) and if I know my son will be playing and running around in them I can just tighten the lace! He can get them on by himself and so far they are very durable! We got the red ones and they are adorable! I usally don't take time to write reviews, but I love these so much I felt like I had to!

Keens for toddlers!

Keens are the way to go! They are lightweight and very comfortable for everyday use. We live in a tropical area so it's nice to have the boys in these and not worry when they get in the water with them.

Still looks great, and sole has not worn out yet even ...

I bought these as an alternative to Crocs, which wore out long before my kids even outgrew their shoes. The Rio has held up well, and endured heavy duty use and abuse by my son. Still looks great, and sole has not worn out yet even after months & months of use. At the rate it's going, i should be able to hand it down to my younger son.

Just a bit small.

Bought a size 4 as it was the smallest size. For my 3.5 w daughter. They actually fit pretty well and are tight getting on and a bit long. So I would say much narrower and a tiny bit shorter than a 4w but working out well for my 3.5 kiddo. Ran quite a bit shorter than the size 4 Teva saddles I bought for her twin.

We love our keens

We love our keens. The attraction to these versus the cloth ones are that they won't get dirt embedded in the fabric. And if they get funky/smelly a wash/rinse in the sink is easier than throwing the shoes in the washing machine. Another big plus is that these shoes will dry very quickly versus in 24 hours. I think each style has their purposes - these are great for muddy/dirty/wet days especially.

Prefer these for our little boy over Crocs!!!

We love the shoes we love it we can get them dirty but he can play outside and then wash them off let them dry and go back at it again they have been running and he walk very well in them due to their exceptional fit and structure I prefer this over Crocs they are awesome!!!! You may be able to tell from my picture they are quite loved on and dirty already but still in exceptional, like new state (except the dirt of course)!

Sooooo wide!!!

These are cute and look well made, but they are super wide, just like crocs. I was hoping for a fit closer to a normal keen sandal, but this wasn't it. :-( The tread on the bottom is awesome, though. If your kiddo has extra wide feet these are for you.
