I bought this jacket for times when I want protection from the sun, without getting too hot. What I have discovered is that it is also the perfect cover-up for walking my dog early in the morning, and at dusk. In the summer heat, I was coming back with insect bites and now regularly wear this top to protect myself in a non-chemical way, without getting too hot. Insect Shield clothing is good when you are going to need sustained protection from biting insects, but it has to be washed separately from other clothing. This jacket has worked well for more casual use, and has the advantage of protecting me from sunburn.
It looks good, has pockets, fits true to size, and washes easily. I really like the Sol Cool line for summer protection, and think the hand protection also will work well for birding, when your hands can get burned and bitten.

ExOfficio has fantastic products and so grateful for a hoodie for summer wear!!! It's cool and the material so soft. The arms and hood are thinner material than the body of the top. It has thumb holes - can use or not. Zipper is smooth. The hood does cover my whole noggin' and mine is a large one. I really really liked that. Excellently made, excellent material, excellent design. The back does drape lower than the front. Which I like (not such a boxy look). I have bought in black and a reddish color and now am getting white. I have normally been getting Mediums or smalls in tops and I could have gone with the XS (EO clothes seem to run large (or is it that they are right on for how women actually are shaped and everyone else has got it wrong??). But felt better in the small. I tried several sizes to see which would be best comfortable and to my liking - I encourage others to do the same and to definitely give this a go - if you want to cover up year round, be protected from the sun, AND but be out in hot temps while being comfortable!!!

I recently developed a sensitivity to the sun because of an autoimmune disease and need to be careful to cover up my arms when outside. I live in southern California and love being outside. This jacket fits my needs perfectly. The sun does not seem to bother me when wearing this jacket; other long-sleeved shirts do not seem to protect me. The jacket is very lightweight so I'm able to wear it in the sun without getting too hot. It is well constructed with flat enclosed seams and a quality zipper. My only "con" is that I wish the side pockets had zippers. I initially bought a white jacket and loved it so much that I bought another one in black.

Super excited about this jacket. It's thin and good for travel. It's slightly bigger than a normal small but I put "fit as expected" because it should be a bit loose. it leaves room for breathing and is extremely comfortable. Great for cooler climates and hot. LOVE

It's so light weight that tying it around your waist when it isn't needed has no bulk. Also folded in the backpack takes up no room! Love, love, love them!

My only complaint is why did I get white? It's amazing for what I need it for. My skin can't be exposed to the sun due to lupus and it works perfect. I love the thumb hole and that it covers my knuckles too. It's the right length and I will buy more sun protective products from here.
