Just received my new LG refrigerator with custom chill drawer and the drawer wasn't getting power and the freezer light wasn't working. Read many bad reviews with these same issues and decided to take matters into my own hands. I opened all of the wiring compartments on top and re-seated them with no results. Then looked on page 19 of manual which is the assembling of the custom chill drawer and discovered that there is a wiring harness in the chill drawer itself. I took out the inner drawer and discovered that when the installers had put the inside drawer back in it had dislodged the wiring harness inside. I re-seated the harness and now all is working perfectly just be careful when putting the inside part back. I imagine that when people say that it worked fine and stopped working after a short while that this is the same issue. Hope this helps anyone having this issue and saves you money and aggravation!

I'm sure the other reviewers received a working product. I did too, for the first few days. However, I had to have a service guy come out within the first week the fridge was delivered because the CustomChill door temperature selector buttons stopped working and the freezer drawer light doesn't work. The issue appears to be with the electronics or wiring. The technician has been out 3 times, and the problem still isn't fixed. To note, it's been a month and a half since the first visit. He has to contact LG directly while here because they haven't released the specs to technicians. After 2 part swaps, the issue remains. He said I should be getting a call from LG soon. I hope it's to replace the fridge.
We bought the fridge to replace a 14 year old 26cu ft KitchenAid side-by-side because we wanted something more energy efficient. I was hesitant because the new models (from any manufacturer) have a lot of plastic pieces and metal-on-plastic pieces. This means those parts will wear out quicker and you (the consumer) will have to pay to fix them or buy a new fridge. Since it was on all similar models, we decided to go with LG because of overall reviews. The compressor probably will last since it's mechanical and LG puts a long warranty on it. We were a little disappointed with all the plastic because of the high price.
The door-in-door is nice, but you have to really push on it to get it to stay closed instead of just swinging it closed. As annoying as it is, keep the door alarm activated. This has saved us from leaving the door-in-door open because it didn't close. Plan on two hand use for the ice and water dispensers. The water dispenser symbol will inevitably get scratched off soon because it's only painted on instead of etched in.

BUYER BEWARE.

We purchased this refrigerator on 1/15. It is actually very nice. My only gripe is that the digital display is PEELING OFF the door. The touchscreen buttons still work but the actual touchscreen assembly is coming off the panel. You would guess this is covered under the 1 year manufacturer's warranty. I called LG today and they told me this was a 'cosmetic' defect and therefore not covered. Yes it is cosmetic, a cosmetic eyesore and the beginning of what it looks to be the complete falling off of the touchscreen panel.

Thank goodness I purchased additional warranty protection and purchased through a very nice retailer that cares about customer service. The told me this attitude is typical of LG. If you look at similar LG appliance reviews you will read the same reviews I read prior to purchasing our fridge, describing the horrific lack of care of LG's customer service department. Weird, they seem to have great designers and engineers but treat customer service as an annoyance. After we remodeled our whole kitchen and laundry around LG's high end appliances, they just lost me as a customer in the future.

Maybe I have a bad unit but I can tell you, I also bought from a company with bad attitude towards helping their customers. If you decide to buy anything from LG make sure you protect yourself and do not depend on them to stand behind their own brand!

This is the best fridge I've ever owned. The door in door is amazingly handy for milk and drinks, and with a family of six I don't have to worry about it being shoved in the back. EVERYTHING is removable, making getting it really clean is a huge help when spills often happen daily. We shop in bulk, obviously, and the double freezer doors are amazing. I have bad fibro, so bending over is rough. I keep all my handy freezer items in the top drawer, and the bottom holds pounds and pounds of frozen fruit and veggies.

We had two refrigerators when we replaced one, and this holds everything the previous two do, allowing us to disconnect one except for large party planning. That is a LOT for a family of six that only shops twice a week and eats a lot of fresh and frozen vegetables. The bottom drawer in the fridge is perfect for store cold cuts and other quick lunch foods.

I couldn't recommend this more!

I purchased this refrigerator from Best Buy for $2699. Later I saw this at Fry's Electronics for $2199. I have had this now for over a week and am truly delighted. I had a 25cu ft Samsung stainless side by side refrigerator.

Pros
-Spacious, the indoor icemaker provides more usuable room inside
-Organization is excellent with the door in door, put your most used items like milk, juice, peanut butter, jam, ketchup, mustard in there
-Grab and go drawer is excellent for yogurts, cheese, butter, salad, etc and its programmable
-Lighting, nice and bright and you can easily find everything
-Water filter in door, leaves more space in refrigerator unlike old Samsung
-Relatively quiet, ice dropping is not as loud and compressor is not loud like Samsung
-Drawer and freezer drawer glide close themselves
-Door alarm sounds cool
-No problems with ice coming out, water spout is nice and high so no crouching
-Freezer has two trays to organize veggies, ice packs, large items, easy to find food, no pulling multiple trays out and have food fall through

Cons
-Ice production is only 3.5lbs, so if your having a party you will need to use ice cube trays or go buy a bag od ice or use your old refrigerator in garage
-No magnet will stick to door front, so no whiteboard or calendar going on the face of the doors, could go on side only
-Will show water splashes or fingerprints easily, so you will wipe down more often likely than you would like

Summary, I am delighted with this refrigerator the pros over the side by side are great (organizational abilities, spacious, lighting, quiet, ice maker always dispenses unlike waiting for Samsung to drop a cube, no crouching for water, it has a light too.
