Quality of material is great. Exterior seems very durable and interior is a soft, warm layer of fleece. The coat is very easy to get on and the straps that go around the chest are highly adjustable with easy-to-use (partially-concealed) buckles. My dog has her full range of motion and seems very comfortable when she wears it outside. She doesn't have much of an undercoat, but seems to remain comfortable in temperatures below 15 degrees for an hour or longer. (We live in Chicago and I've taken her out in this for up to 15 minutes in near-zero temperatures with no problem.) I haven't tested it in direct rain or snow yet, but I feel fairly confident about it holding up in those conditions as well.

My pup is about 45 lbs and measures 26" from collar (near-base of neck) to base of tail, 16" neck, and 25" chest. She measures just in between the medium and small sizes, but I'm glad that I ended up purchasing the medium. The back of the coat falls slightly past the base of her tail, but I much prefer that to it being too short. She definitely has her full range of motion, while still having the added protection of a layer of fleece on her belly. (Major plus.) I put her harness on over her coat (see picture) and haven't encountered any issues with that arrangement.

I haven't found any downsides to the product yet and would highly recommend.

I've owned an older version of the K-9 overcoat for years. It's great for Minnesota winters. Easy to put on and take off. Has nice reflective accents. The only downside is that it doesn't provide much coverage of stomach and chest areas for really cold days. Having just adopted a second dog, I was excited to buy the new version. It's even better. It provides more coverage than before (although not as much as I would like), and the Larkspur Purple is gorgeous. Other Ruffwear coats (like the Ruffwear Climate Changer Fleece Jacket) provide better coverage, but are much harder to put on. So, this is my go-to coat.

Note, it runs a little bit larger than the Climate Changer fleece coat. The large overcoat is enormous on my 55-pound dog, but she fits nicely in the large Climate Changer.

This is the one piece of clothing my dog will walk right into. He's a boston terrier/chihuahua mix, 20 lbs, 16" from neck to tail, 15" neck, 20" girth, and the x-small size fits him perfectly. The girth is adjustable so the neck and back measurements are the most important ones to pay attention to. I'm still a little wary of the cloth loop leash attachment but it seems really securely sewn into the garment, and my dog is a heavy puller and it still shows no signs of stress after 3 months of use. The two sides fasten really securely in between the nice, soft fleece inner lining and the outer shell so the buckles don't rub against your dog's sides. Overall it's a very sturdy, well-made garment. It was perfect for fall weather. It is water resistant and dries quickly, but I wouldn't use it for really wet weather/heavy rain (tried that one time, my dog wouldn't even take two steps out the door). I'm not crazy about all the branding on it (black and yellow dog logo) but it's a good color (true to the picture) and he always gets lots of compliments on his stylish outfit when he wears it.

I had one of the older K-9 Overcoat Utility jackets, and it's great - only probably is, my dog outgrew it. So we got a bigger size, and it's SO disappointing. The new material is stiff and shows any marks or dirt too easily. Very unfortunate.

So disappointed. I've bought 2 of these jackets years ago. My dog outgrew the first, and is still wearing the second. I LOVED this jacket. The new jacket I'm returning. It doesn't fit AT ALL! They changed the pattern and fit. Doesn't cover the sides, WAY too long, the chest cover is long and fits weird. Why did you change your jackets?!

I ordered this jacket for our 55 lb. Standard Poodle. We already own a Ruffwear K9 Float Coat and found the quality to be outstanding. The jacket fits perfectly without causing any restriction or chafing at the shoulders (keep in mind a standard poodle has narrow shoulders) and also fits his deep chest. The medium covers his back all the way to his tail (poodles are long bodied). The jacket slips over the head and has an adjustable plastic click-in buckle on each side that tuck inside a pocket once fastened. There is just enough elastic on each strap for flexibility. The exterior is durable and the interior is a soft fleece. There is a spot at the top of the collar where we clip in a light. The underside covers between the front legs and part of the chest which works for not getting peed on. The exterior sheds rain. That being said, I've washed it several times (no dryer) with no problems. During the extreme cold (we live in Wisconsin) I broke one of the buckles. I contacted Ruffwear Customer Support, I had a response within 24 hours and a new buckle within a few days. I have also contacted Customer Support with a question about fit with the Float Coat and received a personal response within hours. Their products are higher priced but I believe the quality is worth it. I highly recommend Ruffwear products.
