I have been looking for a rain jacket for my 85 lb. lab/shepherd mix for a while. I wanted something that would cover the length of my dog as well as a good portion of his underside. The jacket arrived crumpled up inside a box, which is a little unusual for Amazon to be so careless. It did arrive sooner than expected though, so that was nice. The coat itself was mostly as I anticipated--true to color, and lightweight. It is easy to put on, and the dog looks so cute in it!
Here is what is bugging me about it:
1. Does not fit as well as I expected. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the sizing for my dog. Now, this could totally be my error, and I get that when you only have a few sizes and each dog is a different size, then it will not fit perfectly. I focused on measuring the length of my dog, rather than the girth of his belly area. Consequently, the bottom panel is too big and hangs down, allowing water to collect in it as well as getting his belly wet, which is something I was really trying to avoid.
2. I am not so sure this is very water resistant. We have only had a it a few months, but the water seeps into the coat, rather than repelling off. However, the dogs fur is not wet underneath, so I am not sure if this will ever become a problem or not. I am worried that as the months go by, he will start to get wet underneath, as this has happened to me with cheap raincoats I have owned. I will be sure to post an update in a few months.
Overall, I think I am more happy with the purchase than not. We walk twice daily in the rainy Pacific Northwest, and I appreciate that the dog doesn't get entirely soaked. The difference in clean up is definitely noticeably minimized. FYI this is not a lined coat, so it would not be for anyone looking for added warmth.

She looks great in Red :)
I have the overcoat (also in Red) which we use when it gets cold in So Cal.
Sometimes it rains here but not cold enough to wear the overcoat so this comes in handy.
Really nice and with all Ruffwear products, it is great quality and will last a long time.

The XL fits my 87 pound german shepherd just right with some room to spare - easily fitted with the elastic straps. It covers him from the neck to the base of the tail. The quality is excellent, well made. Looking forward to a walk when it rains!

If you hike with your pup all year long (and live in a cold climate), this is a nice in-between seasonal jacket that can act as a windbreaker in the fall or rain jacket in the warmer months. Ruffwear rules. Not cheap kit, but the quality is as good as the better lines of outdoor clothing you can buy for humans!

My dog wears a small from ruffwear for jackets and harnesses, but this small raincoat measurements do not match item description. Neck hole too small and length too short to keep rain off back of my 42 lb Jindo dog. I replaced it for the medium which was a little loose,but when sinched down and a jacket underneath it is almost perfect. As others have mentioned, the back near the tail can flap around in the wind, looking to get a elastic strip with clamps similar to what you would find on the backs of trench coats to secure it a little better under her belly.

I love this Ruffwear jacket because it is adjustable enough to fit my slim-waisted hound dog well--so often these jackets are styled with thicker-waisted breeds in mind and they droop well below my dog's stomach. The reason it didn't get 5 stars is because the neck is tighter than I'd like, and my dog can't wear his regular collar under the jacket. I also can't layer a fleece underneath it in the winter when it's cold (he has a single coat and needs the extra warmth in cold temps). His neck is pretty slim as well, so I'd be careful if you have a dog with a thick neck (think bulldog, etc.) Other than that, it's great--keeps the rain off and is light enough to wear in warmer temperatures.

I have a big dog who lives indoors full time so we walk rain or shine. This jacket keeps the rain off of about 85% of my dog which keeps things reasonable on rainy days. My dog's chest girth was 30 and I ordered large, which was for 32-36. I went up one size because he was 9 months old at the time and I thought he would grow into a larger size. He is a German Shepherd mix weighting 70 pounds. The large is definitely too big on him, I think medium would be perfect right now. Hopefully it will work out to be right but if he doesn't grow I will repurchase the same jacket in a medium. It is a nice jacket and a good value for the money I think. The sides are adjustable for a good fit (if you have the right size!). The neck does not open so you have to put their head through. This is a lightweight water resistant nylon-like material which does take on water and it remains a little damp between outings until the weather clears up (we go out 4-5 times daily for bathroom breaks). It keeps the rain off the dog's back though.

The x-small fits my 23 lb terrier mix perfectly. I already had one for my other dog and loved it. It is worth the extra money - rain does not penetrate this jacket. I can let them out in a downpour, wipe it with a towel, and it's completely dry. It also appears comfortable... on a recent 2 day rain I left it on and she seemed perfectly happy to sleep in it.
