Product Description

CW-X Conditioning Wear makes high-performance technical apparel that helps athletes of all kinds improve their speed, endurance and recovery. The Stabilyx 3/4 Tight provides optium targeted support to the hip, pelvic, and knee joints for greater overall stability and endurance.

CW-X's Stabilyx running tights provide optimum, targeted support to your knees and body core. They're ideal for activities with lateral motion, such as skiing and snowboarding, and for athletes seeking a great form of knee support. The patented Support Web bands together the muscles and ligaments of the lower leg to stabilize the knee and reduce vibration for increased efficiency. The Support Web also harnesses the midsection, supporting the lower abdominals, hips, and back to channel power through the core. Variable compression facilitates circulation during and after activity, minimizing lactic acid buildup so that you can be active longer and recover faster.

The tights are anatomically engineered for each gender, providing comfort, ease of movement, and a better fit. A reflective "flash" and logo provide extra visibility for nighttime activities. The flat-seam construction eliminates abrasions, increases comfort, and enhances fit. Other features include a key pocket and a double-reinforced waistband with a flat-draw cord.

Fabrics
The 80 percent Coolmax, 20 percent Lycra four-way stretch fabric pulls moisture away from the body to the outside of the tights and provides a UV protection rating of UPF 40+.

About Support Web Technology
The patented CW-X Support Web technology mimics taping techniques that trainers apply to injured muscles. When this technology is applied to muscles and joints, it creates an exoskeletal support system that improves biomechanics during motion. The Support Web provides targeted support to key areas, decreasing muscle oscillation and focusing power so your muscles work more efficiently. Variable compression along the web facilitates circulation, minimizing lactic acid build-up and muscle soreness, so you can be active longer and recover faster.

About Lycra and Coolmax
The genius at the heart of CW-X is an obedience to the structure of the body, made possible by two extraordinary fibers: Lycra and Coolmax. Coolmax moves moisture instantaneously from the body out to the fabric's outer surface, where it evaporates at twice the speed of cotton. So with CW-X Conditioning Wear, you remain cool at even the highest temperatures. When less energy goes toward cooling the body, more energy is left to help you excel. Lycra, on the other hand, possesses the unique ability to stretch yet retain its shape.

About CW-X Gear Technology
For 40 years, scientists at Wacoal Human Science Research Center in Kyoto, Japan, have studied kinesiology, the science of human movement. They have tested over 35,000 people and analyzed injuries relative to warm-up and cool-down periods. They have come to understand the mechanics of joints and muscles in minute detail. This exhaustive study of body movement has culminated in over 50 patents worldwide.

Below are some further studies demonstrating the performance-enhancing qualities of CW-X Conditioning Wear.

Human Science Research Center, Kyoto, Japan: Study of electrical pulse activity in muscles
Muscles firing into motion were measured electromyographically for subjects wearing CW-X gear, subjects wearing competitor products, and subjects with bare legs. Electrical pulse activity decreased in unsupported and partly supported legs during exercise, indicative of fatigue. Legs supported by CW-X showed a negligible decrease in electrical pulse activity.

Human Science Research Center, Kyoto, Japan: Study of stability, impact, and motion
In this study, high-speed video analysis was used to compare stability, impact, and motion in CW-X products and regular compression gear. CW-X Support Web tights were 10 percent more stable and balanced and absorbed 12 percent more shock to the knee than regular compression tights. CW-X Support Web tops allowed 9 percent greater range of motion for the arm than regular compression tops.

University of Montpelier, France: Study of VO2 oxygen uptake levels
This study measured VO2 oxygen uptake levels over the course of 15 minutes of running in CW-X gear, regular compression tights, and running shorts. CW-X Support Web tights showed 26 percent less oxygen use than regular compression tights and 36 percent less oxygen use than traditional running shorts, indicating lower energy expenditure.

I am a newbie runner, having taken it up a little less than a year ago. I've been training for a half marathon in February and have had a nagging soreness in my upper thigh, which I've been told is a groin strain. I had been running in typical shorts with no compression. Rather than "push through it," I decided to take a week and a half off of running during the holidays in order to let the injury heal. I had been researching the use of compression shorts and thought I'd give these a try to see if they'd reduce muscle fatigue and reduce the aggravation of my groin strain.

I've been using these for about a month now and believe they've really helped. While my groin strain hasn't gone away completely, I feel it especially after long runs, I do feel better support when I run. I went with these 3/4 tights, rather than full tights, primarily because I live in San Diego, it doesn't get all that cold here, and I get easily overheated.

The only downside I've discovered with these tights is that my calves, the only portion of my legs that are not compressed, sometimes begin to ache in the middle of my long runs (>10 miles). I might try the full tights that are ventilated in order to avoid this problem.

Overall, I'm happy with these and would recommend them.

P.S. My worry about the appearance a 40-something dude, with somewhat of a 40-something belly, running in 3/4 tights quickly went out the window when I discovered these make my runs more enjoyable. Now I don't particularly care what people think!

Well...they won't give you super powers. But they do seem to be a good alternative to the compression shorts/knee brace combo; you don't have to constantly adjust! A dedicated knee supporter is going to be better if you are having knee pain, but you can also wear these tights over a light knee supporter (like the "Copper Fit" from Walgreens)-a very good combo! They are also kind of high-waisted, which is apparently meant to give abdominal and lower back support.
I wore these under my karate uniform for a 2 hour class after I had been mountain biking for 2 hours, and they seemed to help the thigh muscles and knees. Again, they won't fix severe knee problems or make you jump higher, but I like the overall feel of them and they're easy to move in. And despite all the compression, they're comfy enough to wear after (grabbing lunch or a bit of shopping on the way home) I don't think I'd want to wear them all day like you can with lighter compression shorts.
So...those "stabilizing" bands-do they do anything? Hard to say, but these are made by Wacoal, a Japanese company known for innovative undergarments (although mostly for women...Google "Wacoal!"), so I tend to think they know what they're doing. I like them enough to have ordered another pair.
**NOTES: the directions say to fit the knees first and then pull them up, so make sure you do that for the best knee support**

I had researched these for some time. There are a few bands that make similar products. The overall value, construction of the CW-X, combined with the support features, and 3/4 length to keep them out of my ski boots made me choose CW-X. I have used them with great success. I liked them so much I bought a pair for my wife and my daughter and we now all highly recommend them to anyone considering a high performance 3/4 tight for your outdoor pursuits. Sizing is key, these are compression tights, they are supposed to be snug, but comfortable. We found the CW-X website had a very accurate sizing chart and it worked great for all three different pair we purchased.

I had been suffering from a football injury to some of the tendons around my right knee for about 2 years. It made running over 2 miles to be quite painful. I would even be forced into a limp. I did some research and decided to try these CW-X 3/4 Stabilyx tights. The only reason I didn't purchase the full length is because I live in Houston, and it gets hot here! I immediately noticed a difference in my duration of running before that pain struck. I was able to keep that tightness and pain at bay and reach a distance of 11 miles before that pain hit (over a month of a training). They take some getting used to, but I now can't run without them. They're comfortable up to about 75F in my opinion.

About Me: I'm 5'7, 145 lbs, fit, triathlete

This is the second pair of CW-X I own.

    Size bought: Small

Fit: I felt the CW-X was too tight. I don't have much of a tummy, if at all, but I felt it kept "digging" in at times. It wasn't too "uncomfortable", but I would say that a bit looser would have been preferred. Having said that, I haven't tried a size larger than what I have.

Quality: The knitting and seams are reasonably well stitched. I'd say it would last for years

Comments: Overall these are pretty good tights. They are performance training tights and I'd recommend anyone who likes training to have at least one pair in their wardrobe. However, I didn't really find it decreased muscle fatigue as it was advertised.
