The 2 stars are for the ease of assembly and design, everything else sucks. The quality of this crib is SO below average! I am convinced I will have to buy my child another crib within the next year, which makes this purchase a waste. For $240 I expected a little more sturdiness and quality materials.
Let me start by saying Fisher Price clearly does not pay attention to their product. The first time I received the crib, the packaging was not damaged in any way but when I opened the box the middle base (which is the base of the crib where your little one will spend hours in the next few years) was cracked. When I say cracked I mean it was bad! The wood was literally split on 2 out of the 4 corners. How are you supposed to trust your child in this type of construction when it's damaged from the get go? I had to re-package and send the item back. Thank god for Amazon's amazing return process. I received my second crib within a week. Again, no damage to the box but the right railing had a huge dent and missing paint. How did that pass QC? Like seriously? How do you send something in that condition to someone's house?
Regardless, I decided to stuck it up and keep this one and build it. Yes, assembly is SUPER easy. While assembling one of the screws seemed to pop out even though it was screwed all the way. Come to find the piece it screws in came out/striped and wouldn't stay in place. Again, I sucked it up. I was committed to building this thing. Some other screws on the other side of the stripped part helped hold the pieces together, but again this clearly is not a long-lasting item.
The wood is light and soft, you have to be really careful not to damage the crib further while constructing. As my headline states, honestly I'm disappointed. I expected a little better than what this crib is. Don't be fooled by the good design. If your looking for a quality crib that will last you for years, this is not the crib for you.
