The video shows me doing a sound test of the main unit that you can program with an arm/disarm code, and with the door & window models as well. The main unit is LOUD, it actually hurt my ears. The door and window units aren't quite as loud, but they work well enough. You can put everything into alarm or chime mode, which I like. You can install them easily, and I think they work well, and since they are white, they will blend into the walls of most home paint jobs. These will work very well for renters too, as they install with double-sided tape which allows for easy removal that doesn't damage the walls. I wasn't 100% wild about the kit, though. I think the door & window models should be louder, and I think the main unit should be smaller. I also wish that the main unit didn't have a screw required to get into the battery compartment. Yes, I know that keeps kids and possibly a criminal out of it, but frankly, the criminal could just smash it, and if it is mounted on the wall with screws, a kid shouldn't be able to get to it, and the criminal would have a semi-difficult time getting it off the wall to get at it. So, yeah, anyway, not a fan of the screws to get to battery compartments.

Overall, I personally rate this 4.5 stars. Since Amazon won't let me do that though, and this kit wasn't quite perfect enough to get a perfect score, I am going to have to give it a 4 star rating on Amazon. So, 4 stars on Amazon, 4.5 stars from me personally :)

A standalone alarm can be useful for students, renters, offices, small businesses and homeowners. These 4 standalone alarms can be used on windows and doors. You'll receive 3 window/door alarms & 1 keypad door alarm. These alarms provide a measure of security without permanently modifying the property. (Adding a few security window stickers & yard signs could help too). These measures aren't as fail safe as having a monitored home security system.

With each of these units you have a choice of using the chime function, or a 120 decibel alarm.
The chime function will alert you if someone enters using the door or window.
The 120dB alarm is loud and should alert neighbors & wake you up if you're sleeping.
I haven't tested it yet to see how long the alarm will sound. However, I've been told that thieves will rip alarm units off walls, doors, etc. so it's possible that even though the alarm is loud, it might not be heard.

The keypad door alarm is more useful than a standard, standalone door alarm because the keypad has a delay mode: 45 second Away mode & a 30 second Entry delay. This means you have 45 seconds after setting the alarm to close the door & leave your home. When you arrive home & the alarm is set, you will have 30 seconds to enter your 4 digit, security code before the alarm sounds.

Of course the chime function is great for alerting you when someone enters through a door. This would be great for a small business & would alert you when someone enters.
The chime function would be useful for bedroom doors. My daughter was notorious for sneaking out of her room. I wish I would've had one of these alarms to use to alert me each time she opened the door.Read more ›

For my situation personally, this alarm system does not work out the best.

Overall, this is a pretty easy setup. It did take me a bit to get my door alarm code set, apparently you need to have the switch on alarm before setting the password, it will not set on chime.

This product is technically a "Wireless" setup, as no wires are needed. However, each alarm needs its own set of batteries, and acts as an individual alarm. Which depending on your situation that might not be a problem, but for myself I prefer a central alarm.

I am in a small bedroom apartment, so the loudness of these alarms was definitely loud enough, and kind of ear piercing right in front of them.So that is a plus for this alarm system if you also live in a smaller house or apartment.

When it comes to the window alarms...you need to have the arrows lined up in order for the alarms to go off. These are great for windows that you do not plan on opening and closing daily, which is where my problem comes in. Most of my windows I like to open up for fresh air, and in order to shut off the alarm you have to go into the battery compartment each time to turn it on or off. The instant alarm however, I find to be a great option. As soon as the arrows do not meet, it goes off, pretty much guaranteed to scare anyone off.

The door alarm...where it does not make me comfortable...when set on alarm, there is a 30 second delay before the alarm goes off...if someone breaks in, they can get pretty far into the house within 30 seconds.

Overall, this product is well made, has a great amount of sound for apartment settings, and overall easy to setup. Remember, the downfalls were based on my situation personally, so take yours into consideration when purchasing.

I’ve lived in my house for 35+ years and never seriously considered an alarm system of any kind. Maybe it’s foolish, maybe it’s because it’s a safe neighborhood. When I saw this available through Amazon Vine, I decided to try it out.
This system has limited abilities. It’s not “wireless” as in infra red or blue tooth; rather, there are separate “units” – one for a door, and three for windows. Each operates individually and is battery powered. Because they are separate units, you should think of this set as four individual alarms.
It took me about a half hour to figure out how to set them up, after deciding I’d use them on the most vulnerable spots – the back door, a back window at ground level, and 2 front windows at ground level. Installation was pretty simple.
You can set the door unit on alarm (at 120 decibels, VERY loud) or on a chime (sounds like a ding-dong door bell). It does provide a brief period of time to enter the code to disarm. The window unites are not quite as loud, although I did not measure them.
Since the window units are not connected, they remain “on” when one disarms the door unit. That means each needs to be armed/disarmed individually. We'll see how well this works in the future. While they do have a "low battery" light, I need to see how long the batteries last on thed units before they fail.
