I've been lactose intolerant for a dozen years and started using Digestive Advantage two months ago. Following the instructions, I took two pills the first two days and one pill daily thereafter. The first week it cleaned me out such that I was "dropping the kids off at the pool" a few times a day. In a week my movements returned to normal and the testing began.

Test one, 1 week in: Chocolate ice cream - that delicious treat the used to leave me releasing military grade stink bombs. Result: Complete success. No bloating, no diarrhea, no stink bombs.

Test two, 1 month in: Annie's white cheddar mac and cheese prepared with real milk. The dish that made me realize I was lactose intolerant. Result: Fair success. A little bloating, but no diarrhea or effluvium.

Test three, 2 months in: Indian buffet - a WMD for the lactose intolerant. Chicken in cream sauce, spinach paneer, rice pudding. Result: Complete success. I enjoyed a peaceful night air all evening long.

Test four, 2.1 months in: Creme Brulee. Result: Failure. GanedenBC30 meets its match ... and I suffer through a night of a malodorous funk that would make a dung beetle ask for a courtesy flush.

The small green pill you need to take each day contains lactase enzyme and GanedenBC30. The lactase is probably in there just for show since anyone who has taken lactase knows you need to take it with the offending food. You take the Digestive Advantage pill just once a day at an unspecified time. The action is from the GanedenBC30, which is the brand name for Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, a bacteria that breaks down lactose and complex sugars. With these little bacteria living in my intestines, I can eat a lot more dairy than I could before, but I still have my limits.

As a person with lactose intolerance, I am resigned to having to take a pill or avoid dairy products altogether. Since I enjoy eating, I chose to take lactase pill(s) before a meal, not knowing I had any other option. However, I also needed a pill for desserts/snacks like ice cream, so I ended up taking 3 or 4 lactase pills on a given day. Plus I always needed to keep those pills handy.

This product has changed all of that. I take one pill a day every morning and I'm good for the rest of the day! You can supplement with lactase pills if you think you're going to test the limits on occasion. And if you work for a company with a flex spending health care account, it qualifies for reimbursement.

What's the difference? The lactase pills provide the lactase enzyme that breaks down the lactose, but it is not in your system very long, so that's why you would need it every time you have dairy. This product uses a lactic acid bacterium (probiotic) which is able to last for about a day in your system with the same results.

I highly recommend that you try it if the concept sounds appealing to you. The manufacturer's site will send some free samples, or if you can't wait, the product has a satisfaction guarantee.

I've tried Lactase, which helps a little, and Dairy Care, which actually upset my stomach, and on a whim tried Digestive Advantage. I was surprised to feel no discomfort and over the past 4 weeks have tried ice cream, pizza, lasagna, buttered bread, cheese ravioli, pasta, milk chocolate, cakes, etc. with absolutely no problem. This product has changed my life. It has also relieved almost all IBS symptoms on top of that!

I've tried everything for my lactose intolerance - and this is one of the few products that work for me. I take it once a day as opposed to every time I want to eat something with dairy in it (like if you take Lactaid) Since I started taking the Digestive Advantage, I haven't had a single issue with dairy. I eat whatever I want, whenever I want - and believe me when I say I love to eat yogurt and ice cream and finally am able to again. Oh and let me not forget about milk in my coffee!

Digestive Advantage Lactose Defense lets you live your life normally without having to be afraid of eating what you want when you want.

This is opposed to Lactaid pills, as having to take one or two right before I eat something is inconvenient at best - if I'm out I can't just pop into a coffee shop or ice cream shop for a treat - I have to plan every thing I eat. No surprises or I'll pay for it.

Not only does this work better than Lactaid, but it's much less expensive too. Imagine, you get 32 pills (an entire month's worth) of DA for $8 or you get 32 pills for $9, but it only lasts maybe 10 days having to take it every time you eat or drink something with dairy in it. That's paying almost $30/month for Lactaid. I've been taking it for over a year now and I'll never go back to Lactaid.

I suffered from extreme Lactose Intolerance for about 20 years. Although my pockets were stuffed with Lactaid whenever I went out, I needed at least 3 Lactaid Ultra pills before I could enjoy an ice cream cone, and even then I calculated the distance to the nearest restroom. For those with normal digestive tracts, I'm sure this sounds gross, but for those with Lactose Intolerance, it probably describes many days of your life. At it's worst, I would even get ill if I ate something made with butter if I didn't take Lactaid.

Once in high school I got sick after eating Pop Rocks- who would have guessed that Lactose was one of the main ingredients? By that point, I memorized almost every product's ingredients on the grocery store shelves, and whenever people offered me food I wasn't familiar with I asked to read the ingredients before deciding if I would try it...

So the great news is that Digestive Adnvantage's Lactose Intolerance supplement has solved my problems with most things Lactose. I take the pills regularly (one every morning), and I can essentially eat whatever I want without worrying about the ingredients. That said, I don't drink my weight in milk or get a triple-scoop ice cream cone, but I am perfectly fine after eating cholate, cakes, pizza, cheeses, creamy deserts, etc. I highly recommend this product for those with Lactose Intolerance, although based on reading other reviews it doesn't appear to work as well for everyone.
