From an owner and user of a hitch-mounted Thule 956 Parkway rack. So, I feel somewhat informed to offer an opinion after attaching and using The 3-Bike version of the Thule Raceway (model 9002Pro).

Attaching the rack was easy. The user manual is great, with very useful illustrations. Should take you no more than 10 minutes the first time, and half that from then on. Removal is even easier.

The rubber pads give just enough to really secure your bikes. Thule makes a point of their 'Patented No-Sway Cage' and I found it to perform as advertised. On bumpy roads, over speed bumps, and down the interstate... made no difference. The rack is heavy, in a build-quality sense. I will update my review as I have more trips using the rack. IMHO, you should use a hitch-mounted rack... if your vehicle supports it.

I see the negative reviews are more about the rack not fitting specific vehicles. I can't add much for or against that criticism but the rack fit very well on both a 2012 Audi A6 passenger car and a 2011 Buick Enclave SUV. Check the user manual (link found below in the USEFUL LINKS section, pages 12-32 for the supported car models.

This is the third bike rack that I have used. The first was a cheap box store brand that ended its service from being thrown by me over the guide rail and into the woods along a highway. The second was a Saris Bones 3-Bike; which I think is an excellent product that did its job superbly -except for installation; especially the straps. I hate having straps flapping in the breeze and securing them (wrapping the excess and tying off) could take 10-15 minutes. Plus, once installed, it is easy to steal off the car if left on overnight.

Even though majority of my rides begin at my house, I still like to explore outside my local area. Also, there are times I like to bring my bike to work and get a few hours in at the crit before going home. For some of the rides I need to travel, I like to get an early start. As I already mentioned, installing the rack the night before is not an option I'm comfortable with as there's a good chance it won't be there in the morning. When wanting to leave early, the last thing I want to do is waste time installing a bike rack. What attracted me to the Thule Raceway Pro was the easy and quickness of installation and that you can lock it.

I bought this rack after a friend showed me how it works. My friend is a heck of a nice guy but not too bright and very mechanically challenged. He brought out the rack, installed it on his car, and had the bike on it ready to go in less then three minutes. I was sold.

This rack is heavy compared to other racks I've used, but if any normal sized adult has trouble installing it because of its weight, you should not be even driving a car let alone riding a bike. The negative to report is the cable for locking the bike to the rack.

I use to have the Yakima Super Joe 2 but decided to get a 3 bike rack since "2 bike" rack really kinda means "1" and sometimes I've needed to put 2 bikes on. I've heard good things about Thule so I decided to try this. It was really easy to install and probably took about 5mins or less.

Pros:
-My bike does seem secure on it
-It does have a lock that makes me feel safer when leaving it on the car
-It's really easy to strap my bike in(It was harder with my Yakima)

Cons:
-"3" kinda means "2", especially if one of your bikes is a mtn bike and bigger
-It ONLY has a lock for the 3rd bike... so unless you put your bike on the one furthest from the car, or have multiple bikes on then the lock doesn't really help.
-It only comes with one strap for your bike, so if you do put 2-3 bikes on then you should buy an extra strap(My Yakima came with a couple straps)
-The stabilizer comes off super easy when there's no bike on it(Not a huge deal but I just don't like how easily it comes off, especially because a lot of times I only have one bike on)

Overall: It's an okay bike rack. I got a super good deal on mine so I feel like I can't complain too much but if I had to pay full price then I would've been very disappointed.

Thule Raceway PRO is very similar in design to the Saris Bones that I have used previously. Even though they look similar, Saris Bones is less than half the retail price of Thule Raceway PRO. Thule Raceway PRO has features make it similar to Saris Bones RS, although they don’t share the same design.

For this review, I’m going to focus on comparing Thule Raceway PRO with Saris Bones and Saris Bones RS. To summarize my long review: If you have a sedan or coupe, you should consider Thule Raceway PRO over Saris Bones. But if you have an SUV, minivan, crossover or hatchback (without a large spoiler), you might want to consider Saris Bones RS. I highly recommend checking the user manual [...] to make sure that your vehicle is supported before purchasing this rack.

** Saris Bones vs. Thule Raceway PRO **

Thule Raceway PRO has a lock feature that deters thieves from stealing your bikes along with the rack. Although you could possibly lock your bike to the Saris Bones rack, the rack itself cannot be locked to the vehicle. If you have an expensive bike, you may want to consider this feature.

The ratcheting system on Thule Raceway PRO makes it much easier to install on any sedan. The user manual also has a list of vehicles that are supported, including the “Fit Dial Setting” number that guarantees a perfect fit based on your vehicle make and model.
