Just Horrible - they are trying to get rid of the 2014 reviews by just releasing new software

This is incredibly sad. They are just releasing 2015 software without ANY attempt to fix 2014 software because they are trying to get away from the horrible reviews of 2014. Quicken 2014 is HORRIBLY broken and their fix is to charge us >$100 to buy 2015. Intuit, you do not have Microsoft's monopoly.

If you think 2015 is going to be ANY better than 2014, please know that I have been using this software for 24 years and it is now in such a decline spiral that I can't imagine it recovering.

I haven't felt the need to complain until the 2014 release (suffering in silence like many of you.) I knew it was a bad idea adopting it this early but I needed the tax projection utility.

However, when you enter a transaction in a plain old check register and the running balance is wrong, it is time to complain. Then it becomes necessary to write poor reviews on Amazon when you cannot navigate through the company's web presence nightmare to report a bug. And then when you finally figure out a place to report and you send an incredibly detailed report of what is happening and the (gees I hope it was) robot responds to please send more info, it really is time to complain publicly.

This seems to be one of those releases where there is nothing "gee whiz" to report. I would almost classify it as just a bug release for 2013 but they have broken too many thing to call it a bug fix.

Unless you have some incredibly compelling reason to update, I would stay as far away from this as you can. Wait until you have read somewhere in a big headline that Quicken has heard the wailing and gnashing of teeth and have released nothing but a fix.Read more ›

AMAZON SHOULD NOT BE SELLING THIS BUGGY SOFTWARE -- IT CRASHES WITHIN 2-3 MINUTES OF LOADING.

I'm a long time Quicken user -- my file goes back to 1/1/1993. I've been using Quicken 2013 Home & Business since 2013. But, after not being able to download financial transactions from my brokerage firm for six months and unable to get any satisfactory help from either the financial institution or Quicken, I figured that as a last resort I would do this upgrade.

BIG MISTAKE!!!!! Not only is the transaction download still broken, but this version of Quicken crashes within 2-3 minutes of me loading it -- every time. No reason given, it just crashes. This isn't production worthy software. It's junk!!!! Amazon should pull this product and Quicken should be ashamed!!!

But for now, here is my review:

What's new (compared to my 2013 version - which is two versions back)

1) A new login mechanism that routes through their servers - not sure what the benefit really is. It's more different than useful. There are various notes in the UI which explain this feature, but on my computer, the text didn't fit in the text area assigned so it's clipped and you can't read the whole sentences.
2) A new ability to check your credit rating for free.
3) Lots and lots of crashes. This is a product released to a schedule and not a quality level. Shame on you Intuit! What I don't get is how they added so many bugs while changing so little -- that is really remarkable.

Updated to 3.5 stars with R2 release-"safe to buy" IMO

Another buggy initial release. Crashes every time I try to update my investments. Just what I didn't need. Happens on two different files, so it is not unique to my particular investment house. Hold off until this is fixed. Back to 2014. Will they ever have a new release that actually works??

UPDATE 9/30/14:
Spent 3 hours on the "chat support" with Intuit who kept sending me to certain links to "fix" the unfixable. The person was clueless (although not as clueless as me who put up with this for 3 hours) and had me install, uninstall and remove certain hidden files from OS. Guess what?? It still crashes. The only problem is that it took me 2 more hours to be able to undo what their tech support had me do in order to reload the program.

Get this, when I lost patience and said I have to go to work he said, well it must be something on my part because I have the latest release?? Are you kidding me. He followed it up with "have I helped you with everything you needed". AMAZING.

STAY AWAY, FAR FAR AWAY until the bugs are fixed. Not that 2014 was a wonderful product, BUT, by comparison. At least with 2014 they had a bug fix for R1 in days. Anyone depending upon Quicken for tracking their investments, this is a nightmare.

Update 10/2/2015:

I upgraded the product from one star to 3. R2 has just been released. The main bug of crashing (which I was told by Intuit was my fault for 3 hours) when downloading investments has been fixed. No more crashing. Still having some issues that seem to be carried over from Quicken 2014 as well as some new issues with the cloud. I can live with these bugs, but rather them work, but since I don't really care about the Cloud product very much, it is of minimal concern.Read more ›

Sorry to hear you have run into an issue. It sounds like there may have been an issue during your initial installation. Whenever you have a moment please reach out to one of our Support agents via live chat so that we may get this issue resolved for you and get you back up and running.

To initiate the chat you will need to select from the product drop down menu "Quicken Windows 2015" and under category select "Downloading Accounts and Transactions" followed by "I'm getting an error". This will generate a blue button on the page which will allow you to start the chat with an agent.
