CAUTION on "free" Credit Report Score - Installation heads up

Downloaded and upgraded from Q2012. Two major cautions.

1) The user interface during the conversion of your old file is horrible. The progress bar zips through the first few steps and then gets 3/4 through the last step (although you do not know it is the last step) and appears to hang. It will not move for a long, long time! Do not abort the process. Give it at least 30 minutes of so... maybe more. It is a shame that the developers could not have put a counter or some indication that the conversion was still ongoing.

2) CAUTION. While the credit report feature would be great, read the fine print about what will happen with your information. In my original review I said: "You are giving permission to "You agree that we may use your information to provide you with aggregated or customized information, educational materials and targeted or pre-qualified offers." Wow... think about what you will be subject to if businesses know your credit score, SSN and birthday.

After reading a comment from somebody who seems to work for Quicken stating this had been fixed in R3, I checked again. The original language is gone, but if you click on the Terms of Service, they assert they will not use the information for any purpose not covered under the terms. However, the terms include "and other communication based on your information" which implies to me that the credit info may be used for some other purpose.

I decided not to use this feature... shame... since we are paying for it.

Quicken Bugs remain Unfixed in Quicken 2015

I have been a Quicken user since the Quicken for DOS days and before there ever was a product called Microsoft Windows. I have data that goes back to 1985, actually for one stock earlier to 6/6/1966.When Quicken was a women owned and managed company they seemed to care and respect their users. I personally submitted many feature requests to Quicken and saw them implemented; I never had problems with software bugs. Since then the company has changed and just sees Quicken as a cash cow and doesn't seem to care about fixing bugs; only cares about useless cosmetic fixes to justify selling a new annual product. I upgraded to Quicken 2015 for only one reason, I was fed up with having Quicken hang up for no apparent reason when I switched from one account to another and under other circumstances. I was tired of having to bring up the task manager to abort Quicken since it wouldn't shut down any other way. This was happening many times every week. I read a comment from a Quicken 15 user that indicated that these hang-ups were corrected. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN FIXED! Now we have the new problem with Quicken being unable to correctly reset accounts (bank accounts such as at Sun Trust Bank) in an attempt to fix download transaction problems. It simply spins forever and, you guessed it, requires bringing up the Task Manager to terminate Quicken. I run Quicken file verify at least once a week to fix any errors that may have cropped up because of these hangs. So I am in a dilemma. My financial life revolves around Quicken - so I am stuck with it. Asking for my money back serves no purpose because even dropping back to Quicken 2014 would be painful.Read more ›

Waste of Money

I have been a Quicken user for at least 15 years. I have been in the habit of upgrading approximately every two years. the last several times, there has been virtually no improvement. This time, it's full of bugs. The free credit score does not work......server connection errors. The software will not update.....an error about 16 bit versus 64 bit. My credit card account will no longer update automatically. I wonder if anyone working at Quicken actually uses the product? This will be the last time I upgrade.

Lots of bug fixes, minor enhancements

Quicken reviews really need to be classified in 2 ways. 1) A review of the overall product as a stand alone financial management product and 2) as an upgrade to the prior version.

1) As a stand alone financial management product its really the only game in town. Many bugs have been fixed from the prior version and essentially it does most of what people need. For this I would give it 4 stars. If you are not using financial management software I would recommend Quicken 2015 for this purpose.

2) As an upgrade to 2014 many bugs have been fixed. But not much new functionality has been added and nothing new has been added that would make me pay for an upgrade to 2015. As an upgrade from 2014 I would give it 2 stars.

Do not buy Quicken 2015!

Terrible!!! I've been a Quicken user for over twenty years and I update the program almost every year... The update to 2015 didn't go good at all... Quicken 2015 shuts down trying to convert my data file... I spent two hours on the phone with tech assist and when they couldn't figure it out they elevated the issue and said I would receive a call from a specialist at a specific time that day...The time came and went with no call... When I reached support again via chat they immediately elevated the issue and for the next four hrs we repeated the trouble shooting process attempted in the 1st call plus some other things... The issue remains, Quicken 2015 doesn't work, and the Quicken support team doesn't know why I'm having issues... To top it off Amazon will not issue a refund and I have to work through Quicken to get one. As a loyal Quicken user (and Intuit stock holder) I'm disgusted with the new Quicken 2015!!!
