I absolutely love this food, and so does my baby, Aphrodite! I absolutely recommend this food with no equivocations!

Aphrodite is 9 years old and for the past 2 years, he's been having digestion and kidney problems that grew progressively more severe. About 6 months ago, it got so severe that I was sobbing at the vet trying to decide if we should put him to sleep. At that point, he was vomiting several times a day, had lost 5 lbs, and looked awful. Everything we had tried up to that point had failed.

The vet suggested we try one more thing - a series of injections and a bunch of pills - and a switch to high protein wet food. Of course, my baby deserved a last ditch effort and we went ahead with it. After a hefty vet bill and 2 weeks, he actually seemed to be perking up! After another 2 weeks, it seemed that he would pull through. But the prescription food was costing me almost $2 per DAY! I had to find a suitable alternative. So to the internet I went. That's where I first discovered the Wilderness Diet by Blue Buffalo! With it's high protein content and wholesome, holistic, grain free (specifically corn) ingredient list, it's actually superior to the dry version of the RX diet.

I ran to the pet store and to my surprise, they carried it. So I grabbed a small bag and headed home with fingers crossed. Aphrodite is a finicky eater, so the first test was whether he'd eat it at all. To my relief, he ran for it and LOVED it! So, I watched and waited.

6 months later, my cat is doing amazingly well! Esp. considering just months ago, he was on the verge of being put down! His coat is thick, shiny, and healthy. His eyes are clear and bright. And he rarely vomits - save for the occasional hairball!Read more ›

When I adopted my cat two years ago, I knew there were a lot of pet foods that were full of corn and by-products and gross things like that, and I knew I didn't want to feed those things to my cat. I researched cat nutrition for a couple weeks, and I decided that I really wanted to feed her a raw diet - but since I couldn't afford raw, I made a checklist for what I wanted in a kibble. I wanted her food to be grain-free. It shouldn't have any by-products. It needed to be high-protein (replacing grain with tons of potato starch or tapioca or whatever wouldn't be good enough - I wanted lots of meat!). It should have several different fruits and vegetables, since cats would eat a little bit of these if they were still wild animals - it's healthy. I didn't want any ingredients I didn't recognize or easily understand if I looked them up. I didn't want any vague ingredients, like "animal fat" or "poultry meal" - I wanted to know EXACTLY what it was. Ideally, it would also be made with meat that was humanely raised rather than raised on factory farms. Blue Buffalo Wilderness met all of my criteria except the last. (Among the dozen or so brands that I seriously considered, I was unable to find anything that met all of my qualifications.) Later on, I also learned that Blue only uses human-grade ingredients, which have much higher safety standards than pet-grade ingredients, and all its chicken comes from USDA-inspected farms. Yay!

I transitioned my cat to her new food a few days after I adopted her (I started with the chicken formula, and later tried out the duck and salmon ones as well). She took to it without any problems. At 11 pounds, she was a little chubby.Read more ›

I, too, was looking for a good dry food that my finicky cats would eat. I have to admit that my three cats LOVED this food. They gobbled it up. But, PET OWNERS, PLEASE BEWARE!! Please read recent reviews about this food. Most vets do not recommend it because it tends to give animals digestion problems, i.e., gas, gal stones, UTIs. The Blue Buffalo Company has recalled this product several times. I wish I could give it to my cats because of its wonderful taste; however, I'm scared to jeopardize their health just so they can have a good tasting food. Again, I am not telling you not to purchase it, I'm just saying to please read all the recent reviews (aside from the ones on Amazon) and make the decision yourself, (Top 535 Complaints and Reviews about Blue Buffalo Pet Foods, [...]).

My cats love this food! They are maintaining healthy weights and look wonderful with soft shiny coats and clear eyes. I highly recommend this food. This food may cost more than grocery store brands but you are getting real food into your cats and you will actually feed them less and they will be healthier.. also feeding them less means less poops! Important when you have multiple indoor cats ;)

I have two cats. One seems to do fine on just about any food, but the other one is, well, fat and crazy for lack of a better term.

I noticed that higher quality foods seemed to make his coat and his moods a bit softer. After doing some research and reading every bag of food at the pet store, I decided to give this a try - and I got the salmon specifically because it has more omega 3's in addition to good stuff the other flavors have.

ITS BEEN A MIRACLE! My crazy cat is so sweet now. He plays a lot with his brother instead of lying around all day and he snuggles the whole family all of the time. He's a changed cat... the kitten I fell in love with. Also, his coat is much fuller and softer and he has lost weight and gained muscle. He is healthy and happy now. :)

BTW, when money was tight, I tried going back to a cheaper food and his old problems came back. He gained a weight, his fur got coarse, and he would full-on attack me about once a week. After changing back to this food AGAIN - he is back to his sweet healthy self.
