Love these beautiful blankets! Yes, they are hand made and must be washed somewhat gently, but I have a front-load machine and they wash up well even on the regular cycle. The colors do not run at all and they look just as vibrant as when I first purchased them. What I love most about these blankets (I have purchased a total of four Kantha blankets in two different patterns) is that they are light-weight cotton and perfect for the summer. They may sustain some damage if you have a cat that likes to claw blankets, so keep that in mind. I cover mine during the day with a fleece blanket so that when my large male cat runs across the bedroom at full speed and jumps up on the bed while skidding across it, he doesn't damage this blanket. Other than that, they are surprisingly durable. I am extremely happy with this purchase!

I bought this to cover a futon in our "upstairs" (ok, attic) playroom and it's almost TOO nice! I've bought several Kantha throws over the years and this is by far, the best quality as well as being the least expensive (and most attractive!) I plan on buying more to use at the beach to lie on. My friend uses hers as a tablecloth! My nieces take them to college to use as throws. I once bought a "real" Kantha "throw" from India. Kantha really is meant to be one made with scraps of leftover cloth which the one I once bought was. It was also silk (or a faux silk). Maybe it was the real deal but it was unattractive and the colors ran the first time I washed it (not this one). I have washed this on delicate and even threw it in the dryer and it's fine! One of the best buys on Amazon!

Beautiful and well made. I am disappointed that it is not machine washable and dryer friendly, though. It will be expensive to dry clean and is way to big to hand wash. I wish I had noticed this in the description. But, really, it is lovely and just the right weight for warm nights!
