Let me start out by saying I never was big on headsets, but now that wireless is a legitimate option I decided to go with it. After literally reading every review I can find on the Astro A50 and this not only on amazon but reviews from every website even bestbuy customer reviews I STILL couldnt make up my mind so I bought both. I first setup and tried the A50s, as soon as I powered them on and hooked them up I put in some COD and was expected to be blown away with full surround sound wonderfulness but after 10 mins of playing I was left feeling a little disappointed. Yes it had surround sound but it was not what I was expecting, they sounded a little flat and underwhelming. Not horrible by any means just not what I was expecting.

So then I hooked up the elite 800s and fired up advanced warfare again. Within 10 seconds of starting playing I said to myself YES this is what I was looking for! I'm not an audiophile by any means, but the sound was much richer and had a lot more kick to it. The weapon fire felt like a deep bass drum plugging away....it was awesome. Surround sound had much more....directionality?...to it. Not sure if that is even a word but I'm sure you get the gist. Its much easier with the elite 800s to pinpoint EXACTLY where someone is vs the A50s.

Now I read a ton of reviews that complained that the buttons are too easy to push and yes I foudn that is the case, however it is GREATLY exaggerated, it was slightly annoying yes but there is an easy solution....just be careful when you keep your greasy hands, oh and you cant toss and turn on a pillow while wearing them. I also heard some reviews knocking them for being too quiet, especially vs the A50s.Read more ›

The headset has good features. Some of them are well thought out. But in the end the headset is brought down by what looks to be poor implementation. They got the frills right, but tripped up on some of the basics.

Pros -
1. The charging dock is a nice perk. Most gaming headsets don't have anything similar (most charge with micro-USB, which is an option for these too). Not that plugging it in is a huge issue. But TB does deserve some appreciation in the design department.

2. Bluetooth capability is a great feature. Almost none of the competition has it (and I wonder why). This greatly enhances the flexibility of this headset.

3. Noise cancellation works decently to suppress the sound of an air conditioner or fan. Of course it won't work for random noise - only effective for constant pitch hums. This is another feature missing in the competition offerings. But since this will only help in very specific scenarios, and most folks don't have a loud hum in the background anyway, I would not say this is a 'must have' feature. Think of it as another nice perk.

4. One of the better sound qualities that you will find for wireless headphones. However, to me the Astro A50's (2nd gen) sound better. TB seems to have enhanced the high's. But it's coming at a minor loss of fidelity. Some sounds may seem a bit 'unnatural' due to this. But if they do, it just means you need to find the right preset for that particular game or audio. I found the bass where it should be. Many headphones overdo the bass, but this one got it mostly right. There is no custom EQ possible (at least I didn't find any). However with so many presets available I'm not counting lack of custom EQ as a con.Read more ›

I took a while before i decided to purchase these headphones , but after doing so much research and reading 100's of positive reviews , i decided to give it a try , and let me tell you "everything you red and heard about these headphones it's true .Here is why , First of all These headsets model are equipped with DTS X Surround Sound Chip Technology , that brings every TV Show , every MOVIE as if you are sitting in a Movie Theater , You can choose from many presets on these Headsets , MOVIE , GAMES , MUSIC , the list goes on , and let me tell you the Sound Quality is something you have to hear for your self , i can not describe it better then to say , it's like being in IMAX Theater , yes that Good .

Besides the DTS X Technology , This Headphones includes various other Features such as , Bluetooth so you can listen to any of your devices such as Phones , Tablets and pretty much anything that comes with bluetooth , yes you can even answer the phone calls while listening to Movies or Watching games , how cool is that .Another Feature that comes with these headsets it's the A.V Receiver Dock Charger Station , it works like a charm it has magnetic pins that keep your headset in place and charged , on the back you have optical in and out witch helps decode the DTS technology for more clarity , and USB port that keeps your Receiver charged , there is another USB port that it's used to be connected to your PC so you can download Firmware and other updates , this USB port it's called Programmable Port .Read more ›
