The motorized brush head stopped working (brush stopped spinning) on the second day. Otherwise it's cleaned well. I'll update the review when Amazon's replacement arrives, maybe(hopefully) it was a fluke.

EDIT:
The replacement model worked great.....for 2 weeks. Now the motor stops randomly while vacuuming. Exchanging this for something normal, no more dirt devil for me ever again.

I needed a cheap replacement vacuum and have a upright for carpets.I like this is a small unit with good suction and carries well.It doesn't track very well around corners and has a stiff hose and dust builds around the intake port but a simple tap on the carpet floor dislodges the clog to the bottom of the collection bin and I just replace the bin and keep going.The factory beater head is very heavy and I use a wood floor head from my dead Dirt Devil instead.Cleans easily and no more dust emptying than any other I've used.I would buy the SD40050 and do without the beater head and extra power.Update 10/7.The stiff hose broke at the handle from pulling the unit and first attempt to repair with glue and duct tape didn't hold.A weak spot for sure

This vacuum cleaner is a good find for small works. I like that it can be used for wooden floor. The only bad (and it is not minor) for me that the canister has to be emptied and cleaned after every small area, as the dust and hair get plugged just by the hole entering the canister. Not very convenient.

I've had this for a couple of months and it is powerful and cleans well. Its easy to empty and clean the filters which do a good job. Its cord rewinder is a nice feature. It does not go around furniture very well and the cord is too short. It should be more rounded or have a bumper, to go around corners and chairs. Its an all round winner, but the user needs to make a few adjustments. I have a Dyson and the dirt devil consistently picks up more dust than the Dyson. Not complaining, just saying.

Bought it in March and the hose has already split along the spiral reinforcements right behind the handle and now it is useless. will have to see if warranty will cover or try to repair it. Otherwise I thought the vacuum worked well.
