Works exactly as expected. It attempts to reconnect about every 8 seconds and does so flawlessly. I have used this device on 20 + different laptops ALL with different ports and configurations and since the device does the transmitting NOT the laptop you typically don't have to worry about compatibility (like you do with WIDI and Miracast etc). APPLE devices are the exception and according to IOGear's customer support the new MAC OS transmits the HDMI signal in a way that this device (and many others) cannot handle. This is good old Apple proprietary stuff at its best and in my case was Unable to get any MacBook Pro or MacBook Air to connect. Either way if you want to wireless display VGA, Mini Display, Display Port, Micro HDMI, Mini HDMI, DVI (from my experience) it can be done with this device WITH THE CORRECT ADAPTERS. I currently have on hand each of the aforementioned adapters and use them on a weekly basis. Right now I am using Mini Display Port to HDMI and its flawless.
In regards to distance I was able to use a laptop about 15 feet from the receiver through a wall or two and it worked fine.
The quality of the signal is also superb, just as good as the hardwired connection.
There is one negative but necessary issue with this device and that is it requires power (of course it does). What this means is if you connect the device to your HDMI port on your laptop you have to ALSO connect it to a USB port for power. You can use a Mini USB wall plug to do this as well. What I recommend is getting a retractable Mini USB cable like this one ( http://www.amazon.com/USB--MINI5P-B-Rtc-Cable-data/dp/B000CDFYNS/ref=sr_1_1?

I use this in a presentation space so coworkers and clients can plug their laptops into our A/V setup. This was very easy to setup and was essentially plug and play. When I first plugged it in I did have to press the "I" button on the transmitter for it to sync with the receiver, but once I did that it came up immediately. The video signal and sound was perfect. I've had it up and running for a few weeks now and sometimes for long presentations (3-4 hours) and it hasn't had a hiccup. It's currently about 15 ft away from the receiver and transmits through two walls.

I have used it with straight HDMI into the laptop as well as with this VGA to HDMI converter: Etekcity® VGA Audio to HDMI 720p/1080p Scaler Converter Adapter Box for Laptop/PC Full HD HDTV with DC Power and no issues!

My personal recommendation for powering this pair would be always use the A/C adapter for the receiver unit. For the transmitter use either the USB plug for a laptop or the A/C adapter if it's a more permanent device that you won't be plugging and unplugging all the time (Blu-ray player, console, etc).

I would give this 10 stars if I could. This set was bought to use in our conference room at work and it works extremely well. I have tested it at 30 feet and it still streams perfectly for office use. I use it several times a week for presentations, spreadsheet reviews and video training. When playing videos from the internet or from local hard drive, there is no delays, no ghosting, no nothing - it displays like it is directly connected to the TV. I have this attached to a 70" LED flat screen TV and is a fabulous to no longer have monitor cable wires dangling across the conference room table. I had to buy a couple of adapter plugs, as my laptop does not have an HDMI or DVI port - I bought a VGA to HDMI adapter plug for about $20 and the whole thing works great.

Works well. Have 3 of this unit in conference rooms. Receiver is placed behind TV monitors on the wall. No noticeable lag. Totally eliminate cables across the floor. Very satisfy with the product.

I'm not sure if it's the receiver or just "they way it has to be" but when we try to play a powerpoint presentation or a video there is a lot of pixilation. One tip that helped for the presentation is to download it to your computer and not play from a flash drive or a cloud account.

I was amazed by this product! I bought it to project my laptop screen to a large TV in a conference room for meetings at work. I had to pair it with a Mini-Display to HDMI adapter cause my laptop didn't have a full sized HDMI port. I plugged it all in and it came right up ... no issues at all. It even project sound to the TV. However, my boss's laptop didn't do sound so sound might not work on all laptops. It was a great 1080p picture with no noticeable latency regardless of what I did ... including streaming video. We're buying them for all our conference rooms now. One thing to be aware of is that the transmitter has to be powered. I used the included USB adapter and just plugged it into my laptop too. So, it requires that to things be plugged in (USB 7 HDMI) to the laptop. It's no big deal and I'm not sure how you would design something that didn't require a power link or battery. The next tech leap needs to have powered HDMI ports! Anyway, great product!
