Giro shoes fit me pretty well. The 46 fits me perfectly in all Giro shoes that I have worn. I wear an 11.5-12 in all other shoes for reference.

I have put these things through their paces on my Giant Trance SX with Shimano Saint pd-mx80 platform pedals with the spacer washers removed from the pins. For comparison, I have done tons of riding with just regular shoes with the same set up and always had my feet slipping off and ruining my momentum or resulting in the dreaded pedal slam to the shin. After looking at my shins one day and shaking my head at all of the cuts and gashes, I figured I'd look for some better shoes. My first thoughts when I rode with these were how dumb I was for not getting a pair earlier. When you plant your feet on the pedals, they stick to them with impressive grip. The soles are strong and provide a great base for your feet to really get the power transferred to the pedals when you're working hard. As mentioned before, the inner sole could be a little better, but honestly, it doesn't feel bad to me and supports my feet pretty well.

There are a ton of options out there and narrowing down the selection is hard. The Five Ten's look good and have pretty good reviews, but I lean toward Giro mainly because they have served me well in the past. I'm not a big fan of shoes that look like you're planning an expedition on Mars instead of taking your bike for a spin and these Giro Jackets are subtle but thoughtfully put together. The Vibram sole is pretty tough and holds up well to the abuse and so far, they clean up well even when covered in mud. After about a dozen rides of some tough terrain, the Vibram soles are still holding up well and only show minimal wear from the pedal pins, other than that, I expect them to last a while.Read more ›

I really like the Giro Jacket shoes. The only thing that is a bit wierd is the heel padding. the padding can bunch up close to the bottom of the heel cup and become uncomfortable. But other than that the grip on my flat pedals are amazing. I have yet to ride them on actual singletrack or on my DH bike. I have high hopes for these shoes.

They have a good grip on flat pedals. They are not so sticky that you can't adjust your feet on the pedals. They seems very durable and will probably last a long time. My only complaint is that the insoles are very thin and the shoe does not offer very good shock absorption for when you case jumps. After bruising my heel I went and got some of the gel Dr Scholles inserts for them. Also, they have a lot of room in the toe area but not so much that they feel loose on my feet.
