I loved LEGO as a kid, and I still do with 4 kids. We had a blast building this set and they were mesmerized by all the planetary gears and U-joints. I like particularly how the set can be severed in half by pulling just a few pieces off the chassis.

I think LEGO has started using too hard of a steel for the springs and the chassis flexes when you try to bottom out the shocks. I like fiddling with things so I changed the rear shock position out to optimize the travel of the arms to the extrusion of the shock; still unsatisfied with the force necessary for compression, I took some wire cutters and trimmed a few rotations off the shocks' spring coils. This really helps the buggy's pre-load sag and the articulation of the chassis will bottom out before a tire will lift off the surface now. Perhaps I can find a low force coil spring from a dollar toy to re-purpose.

The inline 4 cylinder engine also bothers me. The crank shaft is designed without enough foresight so that cylinders 1 and 3 are synced along with 2 and 4. By harvesting parts from another old engine and cutting down an x shaft to one LEGO brick length and inserting it into the center of the engine I was able to get the 1, 3, 2,4 engine timing right. My wife thinks I'm a nerd, but My kids think it's awesome.

This was a fun set to build, with many authentic automotive mechanical details like working CV joints, differentials, and suspension. Looks wise, this is one of the meanest looking vehicles Lego has ever offered; in person it really looks formidable and the metallic decals really add to the curb appeal. The final model is solidly-built and cool to drive around and watch the various moving parts do their job.

I am an adult and I love this set. I recently got hooked into the Lego world and this was one of the sets that just impressed me every step of the way. As a nerd like person I always find it fascinating to see how things works. With this build someone can get a look at how differentials and fully independent suspension systems work. I am actually going to buy a second one if I find a good deal and build some type of custom off-roader. I could use the set I have but I really don't want to take it apart.

This is a really nice set to build with my kid (4 YO). I have always been a LEGO fan, and the a Technic sets are great to do with young kids. They result in a more durable toy for them to play with, and you get to build it with them.

This set was a fun build that results in a great looking model. There are some highly desired parts including large tires, differential, suspension arms, and steering hubs. These are especially handy if you are in to building Lego RC cars using Power Functions. Probably not the best deal at $60, but I caught it on sale.

This technic set has everything I enjoy in a technic model. What this set has:

1) 4 cylinder engine (inline 4).

2) Independent front and rear suspension and steering.

3) CV axle joints in the rear.

4) Rear differential.

For the price it's well worth it for that aspiring engineer or maybe just that young kid (in all of us) that wants the perfect technic set that has all the great parts in one nice kit.

Centrally the power kit could be used. You'll have to use a little engendering skills of your own to incorporate it in the model. I haven’t done it but it certainly has room for it.

Everybody I've show mine to love it and they are adults!

Well worth the price Lego is asking. You won't be disappointed with it.
