5000K light color is pure white (not yellow / not blue). Bulbs turn on with little no delay. Output appears to be as advertised. High efficiency Lumen to Watt ratio for today's bulb market (2015), and at a great price. I only wish these came in lower watt options as well (half the watts / half the lumen output)

I've have many different types of LED bulbs in colors of 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, 5000K, 6000K, and 6500K.

>> For reference, 2700K is the color temperature of old incandescent bulbs (quite yellowish)
>> 3000K is a little nicer than 2700K, but still too yellow for me in most room settings. My bedroom is the only room with some low lumen 3000K bulbs for a dim warm feeling. I don't really like it anywhere else.
>> 3500K is in between 3000 & 4000K. This is an excellent color for indoor lighting if you can find it (more rare).
>> 4000K is a slightly yellowish white light. I think it is very nice in all interior rooms: Bedroom, Kitchen, Living Room, Bathroom.
>> 5000K is a clean neutral white light. It is not really yellow, and not really blue. This is the best color for outdoor lighting in my opinion. My neighborhood just converted the old yellow street lights to LED with 5000K color temp. I love it. I also like this light in the bathroom, kitchen, laundry room and garage. It can work in the living room and bedrooms too, but I think I prefer 4000K for those rooms more.
>> 6000K is blueish white. I don't like it anywhere. Not even in the garage. I also think it is too blue for outdoor lighting.
>> 6500K is even more blueish. It does not belong in residential lighting, in my opinion. I think it is ugly outside

Watch out for dim-able LED bulbs (talking 2015). I've tried a few with different special dimmer switches and they all buzz and flicker. I know someone with some nice dimming bulbs, but he spent over twenty per bulb.

Quite an amazing LED bulb.

The brightness seems to be between a 40 and 60 watt incandescent, leaning more toward 60 I'd say. Not dim, and what I'd call comfortable for common household lamps.

Maybe I'm getting used to less light at night, but the higher wattage LED bulbs seem too bright for lamps, especially if you use more than one in a room.

It's omni directional, and looks to be very close to an incandescent in overall room illumination.

The color actually is warm, warmer than CFL, but a bit cooler than incandescent, so the LED seems perfect to me.

What's really impressive is the wattage required for the amount of light.

Only 5.2 watts on my Kill A Watt P-4400 meter.

So, 450 lumens (taken from the box), and 5.2 watts = 86.5 lumens per watt.
For $7.00 delivered, that's impressive.

Goodbye CFL. Goodbye broken glass, too.

The box says it's rated for outside enclosed fixtures down to -20 F as well as inside.

Outside, I would choose a higher wattage LED lamp for security purposes to cover anything more than a small porch or entryway.Twice the wattage though. So if you have many lights on at night, this 5 watt might do fine.

CONS... It's not dimmable, and is not intended for use with electric timers or photocontrols, so that leaves out photocell socket adapters that turn off during the day.

I ordered a dimmable 10 watt / 60 watt equivalent bulb for my outside front steps to use with a photocell socket. (TCP LAO1027KD LED OMNI A19 - 60 Watt Equivalent (10W) Soft White (2700K) Dimmable Light Bulb). Don't know if it's rated for that, we'll see.

I have a lot of TCP LED bulbs in my house. I bought these because the 60-watt equivalent was too bright for my new kitchen light. The new kitchen light takes five bulbs and the 60-watt bulbs were so glaringly bright that it was uncomfortable. So having these 40-watt equivalent bulbs was just right.

I like the daylight color bulbs better than the yellow light too. I am glad the price has gone down to the level the curly-q bulbs were when I first got into them (about $6 a bulb).

I'm having trouble finding the words to describe how happy I am with these bulbs, and the "daylight" (5000k) light they give. I ordered a 6-pack to try, and am immediately back for more. The first three went into reading lamps...two used for reading and/or book keeping, and the third mounted over my sewing machine. I couldn't believe how much more clearly I could see little details and color quality. For those of you who sew, I could actually see individual stitches when using black thread on black fabric and could see the eye to thread the needle. Reading is so much easier, regardless of the size print or the ink and paper contrast. This saves me from having to carry something to a sunny window to see it clearly and I've been able to put away my magnifying glass.

The remaining 3 bulbs in my original 6-pack went into the hanging light fixture in my kitchen. It holds 5 bulbs, but the 3 daylight bulbs I had left to put in it have already improved the quality of light in the entire area. If you have aging family members, or are struggling with vision problems, I strongly suggest giving the daylight bulbs a try instead of sticking with the usual "soft white"...which produces a much more yellowish light. Yes, it's more like a sunny day...not so warm and cozy feeling, but for task-oriented spaces like kitchen and bathroom, or office space, they definitely make life easier,
